My Posts This: Topic Forum | Well in San Francisco, most great RC shops are gone. The last one standing that I know is Grand RC in Los Altos south of SFO on I-280. They have been shifting their stock to a more mail-order warehouse, but will bring whatever they sell on-line to the store if you request pick-up at the store. I don't know if you are looking for spare parts as you need them, or just to browse. I'm hopeing others in the Bay Area will speak up as I would drive 2 hours for a great hobby shop. 3 hours to the north in Chico, Calif is A Main. I don't know if they have a store front or allow street traffic. I lived there for a year and it is a geat college town and has some historical things to see and great restuarants. Sacramento has a great shop I went to once I think it was called RC Country.
At one time you would stumble over all the parts in the aisles. They carried everything including the odd stuff available, but what you didn't want to buy without touching it first. When you spun the racks, they were intertangled with the other ones. And they weren't stocking just one piece, it was a whole bunch of each with no dust gathering. Very nice people to deal with. Scheldon's Hobbies was the same until about 2 years ago and they just kind of died, but they are worth checking. California Hobbies in San Jose is a good one as well. Tiny floor space, but stacked to the ceiling with stuff, mostly electrics. |
