How would your post read if you where selling this motor? It has less than 4 gallons of use.

I would pull it apart and check the piston and liner. It looks kind of trashed to me. The side of the piston and outside of the liner looks cooked.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Thanks guys! Thats pretty much what I thought when I opened the box. I got the motor in this condition from a member here on RR. I sent the seller a PM saying it looked to be run very hot and I was not happy. He said because he did not open the motor (pull the head or back plate) he had no way to know its condition. I'm getting most of my money back so its not all bad news. Because he says he had no way to know its true condition I ended up paying shipping both ways...$25.00 dollar lesson for me! Anyway the reason for the post is so I can send the seller a link to it and show him you don't need to open a motor to have a basic idea of its condition/history. Also its to remind me (I should know better) and others members to get good pics of what they are buying. Not asking for better pics is my 25 dollar lesson for the month.

Great condition (for a paper weight), Looks new (from a distance)
probably not more than 10 crackling lean, pinging like its full of rocks runs. The only thing wrong with it is it's going thru glow plugs like water.

these YS engineers have thought of everything, they have such a great finish on their parts that nothing sticks. The last time I ran it, the canopy, fan shroud, and lower frame melted around it, but I was able to pry it right out of the center of that molten mass and you cant even tell. Try that with your OS!

Ok, only meant to be funny. I dont know who the seller was, and I am not trying to ramrod him. really glad to hear your being reimbursed.

Holly cooked piston bat man, I would never buy a used motor without the pics of the piston, tells its entire history by looking down the exhaust.

good lesson though.

I think you have learned a lesson, never buy a motor without pics of the top of the piston thru the exhaust port. I would post these pics in his feedback.

If the seller has made things right then there is no need to do that IMO.

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

fwiw, I would not leave positive fb unless the seller takes full resposnsibility for the sale. anything that is less than is what is represented is no good, and even for the seller profit a little is just wrong. frankly, i think i would write him a note, explaining your position, and if he says go pound sand, i would call him out publicly...so far i think you have shown a lot of restraint.

So many peeps on Ebay have no clue what they are selling. They get stuff from garage sales, estate sales, etc, then try to turn some profit on the junk without knowing anything about it.

If I were the seller, I would offer 100% money upon return of the motor. I can't help but think that anyone who owns a YS should have some knowledge of a toasted motor without opening it up.

I would also offer the buyer a refund that would pay for a new piston, liner, and ring if that is acceptable, depending on how much I sold the motor for. I would make it good for both sides regardless.

I assumed that by him posting this here, he was getting no satisfaction from the seller. Anyone who frequents here has to know that this motor is junk. I had not read the part were he said that he was getting most of his money back. If the seller was unsure of the condition of the motor he should have stated so right up front.

Tell the seller to to give me a price.

Years ago people new how to fix things, and only the things that needed fixing.

Any one want to make a bet with me that I could get that engine running to spec. With only replacing the ring,If the bearings are O.K.

I would Have asked for my money back, or a vary good portion of it back even though I can fix it. For the simple fact of not telling you the truth. I hate it when people try and pon there mistakes off for a prophet.

I was hoping it would run to spec just buy putting fuel in it...lols! I was mad when I first got it. But now that I'm getting most of my money back I'm just a bit disappointed. Had he not taken his shipping out of my Paypal refund I would have been fine just paying return the shipping. If I was the seller I would never ask someone to pay anything if there was an issue. And I've found a lot of folks here on RR to be the same. Great group of folks...for the most part!

alexz - you are correct. Anyone who knows anything about motors could buy a piston/ring for $47 and get the motor running to spec.

I'm the one who sold this guy the motor. Everyone is going to laugh when I tell you for how much..... Ready? $45! A whole $45! I sold him a combo which consisted of this motor and a PERFECT Hatori SAB50 pipe which he complained about too. He said it was a TT pipe, which I guess it was. I honestly didn't know. It was a combo I got from Heliproz for $339. I called Hatori and asked about using the pipe on a YS, they told me it would actually give the YS more top end and would work fine.

Back to the $45 motor. I brought it to my flying field the day I got it back. A guy bought it the second he saw it. We took it apart and he said he was going to try it the way it is, but was going to buy a piston/ring for it too. What the heck is $47, right? He knows he'd be in the motor for under $100.

I'm sorry I ever dealt with this guy. I honestly didn't even look at the motor, but knew the pipe was perfect. I stated this in my ad and that's why I dumped it for so cheap ($160 for both shipped!) Plus, I threw in about $30 worth of new gaskets/o-rings!

Yes the piston was skuffed, but an easy fix and it was CHEAP! The guy who bought it at my field was tickled pink getting a motor so cheap!

I think the way V-22 handled it was very fair. If I had received this motor not knowing about the issues I'd have been upset too.

I paid $160.00 for a motor and pipe!

huskynox, you said post the facts in your last PM...here you go! Fact is you don't play nice with others...lols!

RE: Motor and pipe

You are a F'n crying baby!!! How come you didn't post that you only paid $45 for that motor? F U you F!

The pipe was fine too. I talked directly to Hatori and they said that pipe works fine on the YS and would actually give the motor more top end!

I sold that motor and pipe to a guy at the field the day I got it back. We took it apart, he said he'd just put a new ring/piston in it, but would run it for a while to see how it runs the way it is. He was tickled to get that combo for so cheap! You probably don't know anything about motors! The sleeve looked fine. Ring and piston were a liitle scuffed, but the motor still ran fine and had good compression.

The piston/ring are only $47 from Heliproz. If you replaced the piston and ring you'd be in the motor $92 you cheap F!

Again, you're a F'n crying little b!tch that probablly can't even afford the hobby. Post the facts dumbsh!t! Why don't you go back to that thread and state you only paid $45 for the motor! People will LAUGH at you for being a little baby!

Go back to being Mr. Mom and ask your wife for a raise in your allowance so you can afford sh!t you F'n jerk!

DONT EVER PM ME AGAIN!
