My Posts This: Topic Forum | I know this thread might seem to fit better in the general discussion, I'm posting it here because I just finished building my Vibe 50 and made a quick observation. It's built up like this:
OS 50SX-H Hyper engine Curtis Youngblood MP-50SB pipe Futaba S9252 servos x 4 Futaba GY-611 w/ S9256 servo Futaba R-149DPS receiver ...and a 4.8V receiver battery.
All of this is pretty standard equipment for a non-miniature heli. Moreover, there are no upgraded parts on my Vibe 50. Everything is stock. I put it on the work table and stepped back and looked at it. It looks fantastic! But I also noticed something else: it's physically about as big as my 90-sized helis. And when I pick it up, it seems to weigh almost as much too. I haven't put it on a scale, so I don't know exactly what my build-up weighs. But looking on the web, I've seen unbuilt weights for the Vibe 50 ranging from 7.25 to 8.25 lbs. An unbuilt MA Fury Tempest weighs about 10 lbs (and nobody has ever considered MA Fury's to be light).
So, I figure it like this: The Vibe 50 weighs about 73% of what a 90-size heli weighs, but it uses only 55% of the engine capacity of a 90-size heli. If you equip it with an OS 55HZ, that number goes to 60%. Doesn't that invariably equate to a heli that lacks the performance of a 90-sized heli? Could that be why, until people started purchasing Vibe 50s left and right, 50-sized helis didn't seem to be very popular? |
