My Posts This: Topic Forum | Among the models in the Hirobo line, we start with the Evo90. This inexpensive engineering plastic variant (with ali parts where they matter, like the head block) uses the FFZ-III head. It works VERY well. The latest versions brought into the US by MRC have the needed EX hi torque auto hob. The mechanics are incredibly reliable.
The Freya OP adds metal parts to the Evo 90, including the all metal SSZ-III head.
The Freya OPII comes complete with the new SSZ-IV head and eCCPM. This model and head were intended for 3D, but with a simple gear ratio change and manipulation of the head's mixers, it makes a killer FAI model with no other added parts but a clutch bell and maingear. Even better, the Evo/SSZV OP comes with the correct gearing and the eCCPM parts.
The Freya Evo SuperIII is pretty much configured like the Evo/SSZ-V except it uses the other new FAI head, the SSR-VIII(edited).
Now, the aforementioned models all use the fine Evo90 engineering plastic core chassis. For about $1000 more, the Freya EXIII adds an all carbon mainframe. This model uses the SSZ-VIII rotorhead.
The ultra premium Eagle 3 AOCC is an SWM all carbon work of art with the SSZ-V rotor head.
So, what the heck should you buy? If your budget is on the lower end of the scale, then get the Evo90. If you can afford a bit more, the best choice is the Evo/SSZ-V. The EXIII is superb, but my personal choice of rotorheads is either the SSZ-IV or, better, the SSZ-V. Of course, the flagship Eagle 3 is the best you can get, and it comes with the SSZ-V head.
If you ask specific questions after reading this narrative, I'll be able to tune a recommendation exactly to your needs and pocketbook. As noted, Greg is extremely responsive to customer requests for anything in the Hirobo product line.
