So my Trex 700N makes good power (maybe not great, but good), and runs smooth.

But the temp on my YS91 SR is always low - in the 90's on the back plate, and only about 140 or so on the head.

My hi needle is several clicks less than 1 turn.

Mid needle is about 1 1/4 turns.

Should I try adjusting the hi needle or the mid needle???

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
Hope she doesn't outfly me soon!

I would put the high needle up to 1 turn, and bring the mid needle down 1 click at a time..

But that's me.....

I can please 1 person a day.
It's NOT your day.

yeah, I would open up the main untill you notice that on full climbouts its getting bogging and then go back in untill you get good climbouts, then do multiple aileron tic tocks and see how the mid power feels, you may be to rich on mid and lean on high if I was to guess. I usually open my mid up fairly rich and tune high end first then mid. I aim for around 200F on the head.

you dont check the temp on the back plate or the head itself on a ys check temps on the block just before the head

Here is how I do it Rock. I try my best to heat the motor up with sustained tic tocks, rainbows or whatever works for you. I then get the heli down as quickly as possible so that I can pick the heli up and temp the bottom of the case just before the head on the exhaust side of the case. I look for temps around the 175F range.

This is what works for me! Other people may run cooler or much hotter. This is one of those things where you will get 100 different answers. Most people have no idea what their temps are. They are simply going from sound, smoke, performance, and experience.

It's not hard to get to that point as long as you know what 175F sounds, looks, and acts like. IE: a temp gun.

With CP 30% (SR 91), I am about 1-1/4 plus three clicks on the mid and 1 full turn minus 3 clicks on the top... at least yesterday. This obviously changes with weather conditions.

I'm usually about 1.5-1.75 on the mid and about 0.75-1 on the high.

Hi all, in my case still flying quite rich but I'm around 1+1/2 turns less 3 clicks on mid and around 1+1/2 turns + 3 clicks on high needle. 1850 Rpm, Align 91H motor (OS 91HZ) (black head, no pump), CP30%, end of flight temp around 85/90°C on the black head and around 45°C on the back. Seems so good!

Rock, I've been fiddeling around with my YS for a while now until somoene told me to just tune the high end needle first and leave the mid to factory. Do clumbouts and big loops. Keep leaning until the motor wants to bog on the loops or climb ,or until the motor hangs on the pipe after an auto. Then 2 or 3 clicks back form the lean position should be your proper high end.

Then tune the mid by doing ticktoks and checking for power/leanness in the same way.

The auto test allways works for me in terms of leanness.. to hear the motor to see if it hangs.

I dont check engine temp on the YS...

but i got plenty of power now that I've tuned it this way.

On the YS the mid needle will effect the high needle setting. That is why they say to adjust the mid first. But if your happy with it the run it

It's not gay if you beat them up afterwards!
