If i need some thing fast i.e same day i will drive 45mins to either midland heli or real raptors and always get good service both are willing to spend time chatting and helping you, if i can wait then fastlad are always good for next day. To be honest local hobby shops are pants unless you want a twin rotor, plank or car.

Fast Lads and the like do offer great service, BUT remember that they are heli specialists shops. If your local model shops are anything like mine then they've got to cater for everything from plastic airfix kits right through to RC Heli's. No easy task.

However, I totally agree with the bad attitude of some. It must be a pre-requisite for employment.

I don't think rude salespeople are just in England. I think it is a world-wide phenomenon.

Being an old fart I remember things like full-service gas stations where the guys pumped your gas; checked and topped off your fluids, etc. all with a smile.

Shops wanted you to shop there and the salespeople were happy to have customers and greeted everyone who came in. Much of the time you knew the owner or the people working there.

Malls and Walmarts have supersized and de-humanized shopping... they don't care if you buy there because someone else will anyway, so bugger off!

And I think a lot of people just don't care anymore. About you, their job, or much else besides their gratification.

But there are some good spots: Near where I live there is a shop, "Destination Hobbies". The guys always say hi, or if you're a regular, maybe just a nod. If you need something they'll help, if you don't they won't. If you are new or have that lost look on your face they are right there asking if you need something.

They often have RC stuff setup on the check-out table, and they have no problem grabbing it and taking you outside to show you how it works. I've seen the Align 450; SU-26, and P-51 fly.

Anyway, I shop mostly online, but at least once a week go to the shop for something small, so I can chat with the guys/customers. They DO need to get their website up to date... I'll help!

Fast Lad, Revolution Models and Skyline for me...

Got crappy service from Midland so don't bother anymore.

Gave up on local LHSs years ago after poor attitude and service.
