Hi JestRR,

I've admired your "skid work" on various Jet Ranger models. I have a 60 sized Jet Ranger I'm looking to work on through the winter. I would like to emulate some of your fine work. I'm planning on using steel automotive brakelines for strength. My main concern is making the joints strong as possible. What type of joining method do you use on your skids? On the high skid gear what material are you using for the step and how are you attaching it?

I guess an overall question would be have you ever done an online tutorial of your methods?

I braze all my landing gear together. I've heard of people using silver solder too.

I leave little tabs or points on the end of the legs and then drill holes for them to fit into in the skids. that way there is some mechanical hold to them and more space for the brazzing material to flow into. as for the steps, I use 1/4" "T" syrene for the steps, shapped tot he correct shape. I also solder on some step brackets for those to be glued to. I use "SHOO GOO' or "GOOP" to glue them on.

And sorry TCAS, No I havent done and on line tutorial.
