Kasama Srimok 90 > Motor keeps getting hot - any clue?

I got the following problem on my Srimok 90:

The motor keeps getting hot (140-160° C - with 10-15° C air temperature). Iīve already tried two brand new OS 91 HZ-PS with two different mufflers (Align 90 and Youngblood MP6-90). Even with the mixture set to rich and very rich the motor temperature will not stay o.k. The headspeed always starts to increase after some time and I am afraid to ruin the motor.

As this is not my first glow heli I think that I built my Srimok correctly. Does anyone have a clue what to do? Is the fan-system on the Srimok not good enough?

I can assure you that the fan system more than adequately provides cooling on my YS91SR and I have not heard of any other's suggesting a fan cooling problem. Unfortunately, aside from proper tuning I cant imagine why you are having excessive heating.

I had the same issue with my engine leaning out. Make sure that you don't over tighten the 2 2.5mm bolt that hold the fuel tank plastic cap.

Picture of the cap:

Mine was really tight where it restrict the amount of air going in to the tank where it needed to pressurize the tank. You can test it by blowing into the pressure inlet while loosing the 2 screws to see if you can feel any difference.

Cheers

Just checked and ----ooops---- my screws are overtightened on the tank. Thanks very much for your advise. I think Iīll need an new cap and then will try again.

Good to know Niggo.

Let us know when you get a chance to fly again to see if the issue still exist or not.

Tank pressure inlet Screws

Niggo:
Why donīt just unscrew the pressure inlet instead of buying everything again.....I was planing just unscrewing to see if my
leaner engine reaction after a minute of flying will desapear..

īCause I had overtightened one of the two screws. Little cuts in the tubing (even if not visible at first sight) sometimes can be an issue too. So Iīll change that too as this costs only some Euros. I ordered the tank just in case it got demaged while being pressed into the frame (that pia-procedure).

Best regards

Iīve changed the tubing, the seal rubber and the plastic cap. Now thereīs too much pressure on the tank. But due to heavy winds in Germany I wasnīt able to test properly yet. Iīll try with loosened screws next time.

The pressure in the tank came from the new inner plastic cap I had put in. It hadnīt got a hole in the nipple where you put the fuel tube on.

Therefore I drilled in a hole so that the pressure is alright now. But ..... the motor still keeps leaning out and gets hot. I run out of clues..

BTW: Iīve mailed Mr. Kasama on that matter but didnīt get any reply.

it sure sounds like a fuel system problem to me. More like an air leak if your mixture keeps changing.

But where?
Depends on the engine.
Check carby to crankcase seal
All "O" rings on main/mid/idle needles
leakage on carby fuel nipple
swarf/dirt in the carby passages
If muffler pressure is used, is the pressure nipple on muffler partially blocked or gets blocked with oil when running?
Over compressed
loose head bolts

All items are o.K. Motor and muffler have already been changed too. No faults here.

Iīve just added a header tank to sort out, if that will help. But due to heavy rain in Germany no chance for testing at the moment. Iīm wondering, if the pressure tubing on the bottom of the OS 91 PS can be an issue, as that needed to be changed on the Srimok (Kasama adds a special carbon-bracket for the 91 pump-version), because of the special frame-bottom layout.

If I had a carb nipple, I would take off the pump and regulator and tried the motor non-pumped
