yes. for added insurance against blowing the fuse, I added a Deans and charge thru it. I don't charge thru the charge port. never had an issue.

Lipo

Heli Davey

I have been using the Rhino 2620 mAh Transmitter battery from Hobbycity in my DX7. Works great, inexpensive, charge lasts the whole month. Here is a link:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...ter_Lipoly_Pack

Here is another one that is available:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...ansmitter_Pack_(Futaba/JR)

Both batteries already come with the connector attached to use in either a JR/Spektrum or Futaba transmitter.

The only problem I have seen with a lipo in a DX7 is people think they can charge the lipo while it is in the radio through the charge port on the side of the radio. That is a big no no and will surely cause problems because the radios' electronics are not designed for the high currents that are involved with charging lipos.

forget the lipo and get a set nimh 2800 Mah.

1. Lasts as long if not longer than a lipo
2. wont invalidate your warranty
3. wont blow a fuse
4. can be charged through the charge jack
5. wont be worth zip if you accidently leave your tx on
6. wont puff destroying the plastic lips on the back plate

Add two diodes to the positive lead of the lipo to bring the voltage down to 11.1V when fully charged. Then fly every day for a month without recharging.

It is so obvious to many of us lipo in a tx users that the use of lipos in your tx not only complicates charging and the warranty is thus voided BUT the FEEL OF THE TX AND HELI is so much better.
I can really tell the difference in the PERFORMANCE Of the Heli with these different electrons running my tx!! I think its faster...I feel more connected,,it is awesome,,,
good grief

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

No but my 9303 is lighter with a lipo and I no longer have to worry about using all different types of chargers. Everything being lipo makes my life easier.

YOUR 9303 DIDNT COME WITH A CHARGER?? Stock run times are about six hours. Maybe a neck strap is in order to cope with the extra weight with the stock NMH battery.

I explained how to modify a lipo for use in a transmitter in this thread:

http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t464089p1/

I think a lipo is much better than the stock "brick" NiMH pack. The transmitter weighs considerably less, so you do not need as big of a neckstrap balancer anymore. Charging is easy since you only need to do it once a month. You can buy rubber caps at Lowes or Home Depot to cover the stock charging jack if you are concerned you might accidentally try and connect a wall-wart to your lipo. If you install the diodes, then the voltage is no different from the NiMH pack so nothing will be damaged. Before you send the TX in for service, remove the lipo and reinstall the NiMH pack so you won't "void your warranty".

Yes it did come with a charger but who wants all these different chargers laying around. I do use a neck strap and your going to tell me if you had 1 pound or 2 pounds hanging on your neck you wouldn't tell the difference? If you want I can send you my charger so you have 2.

Im trying to figure out how a diode or two diodes is going to drop the voltage. How in the circuit are you connecting the diodes? Series? parallel? I can see a big enough resistor dropping the voltage to 11.1 but a diode is merely a check valve for electricity. Explain please.

Garden variety diodes drop forward voltage about 0.7v each irregardless of the size or capacity of the diode. Two of them in series will drop the forward voltage by 1.4V which drops a 12.6v pack down to 11.2V. You can buy other kinds of diodes which only have a forward voltage drop of 0.4V, but they are expensive.

A diode is like a one-way valve. There is some resistance in the valve, thus the voltage drop.

If you could make a diode with zero voltage drop, you would be a billionaire.
