Iam having problems with this gyro GP750 with a HiTech 5084MG Servo

In HeadingHold mode the light on the gyro is Green and everything seems to be working correctly on the ground anyway..

Then when i spool up the GREEN Light starts blinking RED and GREEN and the tail develops a kick about 3 Inches as its blinking...Almost like it cycles through HH and Non HH...It almost seems like the faster the Head speed gets the faster the blink gets...

Anyone get anything like this before? I have a ferrite ring on the BEC...Its totally unflyable till i resolve it..so any suggestion to check would be apreciated!

Does anyone know if Align has a CHECK GYRO Service like Futaba does?? Its practically a new Gyro!

I think the light changes back and forth as it's "taking control" and "relinquishing control." It's not meant to be watched while you're flying. Does it seem to work? Have you done a hover? Do you have any delay set at all? What's your gain in Futaba numbers?

Yeah i did 5 batteries so about 25 Min...It was weird the first 3 batteries i had ok flight getting used to the heli...Did some backwards flight, inverted and lots of rolls and loops

Then towards the end of 3rd, 4th and 5th battery it was unflyable with the kick happening... I played with gain 45Highest in HH all the way down to 18 HH...

I replaced the servo but i never programmed this gyro, i have left it as i got it when i bought it...

I will try re-programming it tonight and see if that solves anything...

IN THE Past i absolutley have had NO LUCK with anything but futaba... always glitches, kick outs and headaches whenever i test something else

So your gyro flashes too while flying?? I though red was HH and red was rate...

Thanks Halley!

Pete

WEIRD

I just did some tests...

On the ground heading hold works fine... But as soon as i get to spool up the light flashes red/green and i loose Heading Hold when it flashes reverting back to center...

This repeats as the blades are spinning..when they stop HH activates again

FUTABA 401... my trusty friend the 401 will bail me out i guess

Ferrite ring too close to motor

I think i just figured it out... The ferrite ring was very close to the motor (other side of CF)

I moved it and all is well...i put it back and weird things start happening so this must be it!!

Now i can sleep again!

Just for fun, can you post pics of where the ring WAS and now IS, especially with respect to other stuff in your heli.

Electrically, the solution doesn't make sense. But if it works for you, then it works.

Hey dkshema... you know i have been fed up with this bird and gyro combo...
The original issue popped up because the ring was basically 1/4Inch from the motor, as the motor spun faster the light would cycle from red to red faster and faster...

I doubted it was the ferrule but weird problem as it was i moved the ring to the back side... No more light cycling on the gyro... But then last night i flew about 4 packs and every so often i got a huge 60-90 degree kick out of nowhere... maybe about 20-30 seconds it kept doing it

It would be normal for me to get the ONLY defective gp750 outthere... I replaced the gp750 with 401 and it was as steady as a rock for 2 full batteries...steadier that the last 30Batteries i used while fudging with this bird...

My gripes from last night...
http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t551052p1/

Personally i have never seen a ferrule interfere with Gyro...it could be this bird has MANY MANY electrincal interfance issues because i went nuts with the lights..2 Cold drivers, 1 Flashlight LED Array and 1 4LED Array all wired to the same battery...

All i know is the gp750 kicked so vilently it scared the sh*t out of me when it happened while i was inverted..went str8 home and ripped it right off and put 401 then hovered in backyard with no glitches... IN 1 hour 7 Minutes it wil get a full test run (6pm eastern )

Thanks for the help!!

I'd be surprised if the ferrite toroid was causing problems. It's a passive device and isn't a known radiator of RF or electrical noise. It's there to suppress noise on the power line created in the ESC.

Of course, you do have a lot of other stuff going on, it would appear with all the lights and such.

The Electroluminescent wire drivers could be a potential problem.

LOl

yeah shes stuffed now...

but with Futaba 401 i did 3 flights last night in what was probably the windiest day i ever flew a 450 in and she was very stable on the tail...other than the 20Foot altitude changes due to the wind she now fly's great!

When the GP750 was installed i moved the ring back a forth when within 1/4Inch of the motor it did funny things, when 2 inches away funny things went away... the gp750 just did not like this heli at all too much for interference i guess...

high magnetic field from the motor around a coil of wires on the ring... not a good combo...

the gp750 can lay around for now till i get a 600

Thanks
