What about now would you say they have gotten better.

I think all brand new heli's to the market have had some problems and were released prematurely.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I am not worried about new pilots starting out on them... and the quality (if there is an issue) being sub standard and it makes the pilot then a dangerous flyer.

Many new pilots these days started with Walkeras and things like Blade CPs... and god knows they suck also!! Allot of today's pilots learned (if you want to call it that) from those... and we all survived. I know there is a huge size difference versus a CP and a 50/90... but I don't see it as more of us running and ducking for cover. The new pilot is going to do what is comfortable for them... and a 50/90 many times will not be it. Even if they do start there (and/ as others may have)... we seem to have lived through it in the past, and the hobby has also.

What worrries me is that the hobbycity helis will be more of the same, and be like the ones they have now.

What I keep hearing, and even seeing of them in the field... is that some portion(s) of the heli will very much be of sub standard quality (like the dampeners in the 450, etc.) and the pilot will be chasing that for hours on end.

If the pilot does not know what to check and/or look for (as many new to the hobby don't as much)... or have someone to help them that does - they are going to be chasing problems for quite awhile trying to get the heli to fly right.

I just think that sucks for them!!

If it does happen... and if history repeats itself... which it seems it does with each of Hobbycity's newly introduced models - the pilot will be spending more time in the beginning trying to get the heli to actually fly correctly... than actually flying it around.

Time will tell.

most of cheap clones available these days are as good or, in most cases, better than what was available in the '97 '98 period.

however i do think it better to go with a current mainsteam heli choice such as align than be a beta tester for something that may not have the bugs worked out.

you should see what they flew 20-25+ years ago compared to a current 'cheap clone'.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I bought one of the 500`s to fix my Trex, I ended up only useing my Align head and everything else is HK, The plastic head that came with it isent the sexiest looking peice of equipment, I dont have xray vision but on face value I cant see anything wrong with it that would make it dangerous or unflyable.

If I bought another HK 500 kit, I would want to replace the sideframes with Align GF silver ones, get an Align yellow canopy and also some white skids, because Im finding when everything is black mixed with the ESP mostly black canopy I have its horrible, I would not buy an ESP kit with CF frames and black canopy, I need to have silver sideframes and bright yellow canopy (GF version) or I cant see it.

Cheap to fix Why not learn 3D with it

I couldn't afford learn 3D with an expensive JR not even my lower class Century Heli's are too expensive to abuse and trash like a TREX

Im not your daddy,do your own research .With you saying he "deliberatley trashed" the heli cause its a Align heli says enough,anyone with common sense knows when you fly that low and hard theres a chance it will go in but I guess you don't know that .

3 enough ? And thats just fixing what ya got.....Ya arguing with the wrong guy about Century dude.....paid my dues on them, and moved on long ago.

Folks were bashing align when they first put a nitro onto market, just like folks are going em here...... the truth of the matter is , a stack of folks would not of progressed in their flying, with out Aligns inexpensive little gems....The Hawk/Raven design is a decade old ......still does the job, no arguements there, and they do a good job. Its just times have changed dude.

Maybe hobby citys choppers, will be the next big thing ?.... although i doubt it........

Assumption is the mother of all F#@&ups.....
