HI,

I am looking to replace my old Knight 3D.

Ok this is a post to find out the advantages/disadvantages of this new kid on the block so I can compare it with the competiton.

What are the issues that need resolving?

Are any of you guys using the new O.S 55 or NR57?

One way bearing is the main thing.
and Outrage is already aware and working on it.

easily solved for now with using the Align T600N OWB if you have issues with the stock.

I haven't had the issues with mine yet at all.

I really like mine and for a brand new first generation kit its been solid.

oh yah the only other complaint I have is canopies not being drilled out at the factory and no grommets in the kit.
I hate messing up =/

So is the one way a total failure or does it lock up?

If the one way totally lets go at the wrong time it could be a major crash

I have the latest kit,

My One way has been fine and spins very free, but its only had a few flights so far.

I had to drill the canopy out and my kit also had no grommets

Over all thats not really a drama.

So far i am very impressed with the Velocity 50

This is a well made machine for the money.

bathmagic, Wait til you get to your 12th or 13th flight, then your one way will lock up.

USNAviationjay, I know for a fact that the problem is with the sleeve. I have had 2 different 600N bearings in mine, (mine is the latest design kit) and it still locks up. Helidirect then sent me 2 more sleeves and they both measure under 12mm. Needless to say I am not even going to put them in and try them because I know that about that 12th flight it will start locking up again. The sleeve is just too small OD. The 600s measure over 12mm OD and thats why the same bearing works fine in them.

I did break the frame crossmember that the boom support bolts thread into. I fixed that with a cut down JR cross member.

Otherwise, mine has ben great for 41 flights but the one way problem is fairly annoying. It locks up every flight so I cant auto it, and I like to do autos.

This is such a great kit the only beef I have is why don't they pre drill canopy and supply gromets??? Real poor area of kit. Would it increase the price that much???
Would save everyone a lot of hassle in MHO.

How does the Velocity quality compare with Align. Espcially the hardware. Is the QC there?

Also anyone flying theirs with a Novarossi in it? How does it stand up?

Quality is better than Align IMO. Really nice all-metal head and tail with close to zero slop, even after several dozen flights.

Far better quality then Align IMO. I've neem flying the NR57 in mine since the Velocity was released. Great engine several gallon's through it. Ton of power and run's great I picked up a 2nd NR57 for my other Velocity kit.

Just buy the Velocity and NR57 I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

So who is running an OS 50 Hyper in their Velocity? Not all of us want to put out for the kit and a new engine at the same time. The Velocity looks like a really great modern design. Lets hear from anyone using the Hyper in it.

Hey AZ,
I've read of a few running the Hyper and liking them just fine. I have a YS50 in my 2nd kit right now and it's doing great. I bought my NR57 for it or as a backup.

I did have a OS 50 hyper in the 2nd kit originaly but it went out on me si I stuck the YS in it. Though the 2-3 flights I had on it it did run and fly great.

Az,

The Hyper will run great in the Vel 50, I wouldn't expect it to perform as well with the SWE630 but a good set of 600's or 610's and the Hyper does a great job.

I'm running the 50 Hyper and I'm quite happy with it. She pulls 13 degrees pitch like nobody's business.

Saving my money for fuel cause this machine is getting some serious air time.
