You can go up the hill at 65mph and you'll feel pretty good but if you step more on the gas it doesn't accelerate that fast.

The trouble is your collective will also increase the pitch which would be the same as increasing the diameter of the tires on a car. You don't need to worry about the gas on your heli if you are using a governor. You do need to worry about the collective pitch though when climbing that same hill.

If you want reserve power you have to gear the heli so there is some power band left above what you are normally running at. I know Raja doesn't stick bang so basically he doesn't need that reserve power.

The middle of the power band on a stock Zenaoha is near 11,000. In my opinion Century has the correct stock gearing for top performance and MinAir does not.

yea

Ace you are saying the same thing as Raja. In the large picture you are talking about loading on the disk just in a diffrent way. We can spin more on the head with less and have the same climbout.

Raja would fly well with 6.785-6.4 and many others, but if you sit on the ragged edge of max power of the engine where a hard g manuver will tear the motor rpm more so then it should be atleast considered. Managing collective sure just reduce the collective more. Its the increase of lessening the collective through hard manuvers.

I flew 720's at Ircha. I like them, but not for harder 3d. They are super if you do FAI style or where you don't want 3 turns a second. They don't have the roll rate as 710's or smaller. Just depends on your use of a gasser.

Running 6.92 ratio would put the engine up over 13,000 RPM at 1900 HS.

I LIKE the 1900 HS for FBL NOE, so lowering the HS is NOT an option...

Putting the engine over 13,000 puts it PAST the top of the curve for power....

I guess it depends on application, and is why differnt pinions are offered...

hmm

fbl=flybarless.

Chris. I agree with your statement. This is also why I have left the gears alone..lol. Use a little less pitch and it will be fine. I have a outrage 90 fbl head that would fit the min air...hmmm
