I just switched from Duralite 6V Reg + Lithium ION 4300 to an Arizona Regulator and Outrage XPRX 3600 LiPoly, very pleased with the results.

It seems the Duralite Reg + Lithium ION combination couldn't keep up with what my servo's needed (BLS351's).

I run an Arizona regulator with a Hyperion pack (2S 2500mah). I can charge this pack at 5C. I have only charged it so far at 7 amps but it will take more. It's been perfect so far and the Arizona has been bullet proof for many seasons as well. I plan on buying another Hyperion pack for my fly-barred machine.

It can depend on your choice of electronics, their weight, placement, and how many flights you want to have before time to re-charge. The tail can be a bit heavy on this machine since the boom weighs a good bit as do some of the other components towards the back. I'm using a 4000 mah 2s lipoly and it still is a bit tail heavy even with the canopy on but I chose to go with a light weight electronics setup with light weight servo's, no external governor, and no external regulator ( spektrum AR7100R receiver) I'm paying for it now with all the weight savings by having to come up with other ways to reduce tail heaviness and or shifting weight to the front. Just something to keep in mind. I get about 6-7 flights by the way before time to re-charge my flight pack. It's unregulated though which you may be able to get the same number of flights in with a lower mah pack if you choose to go regulated.

A lot of guys fly unregulated, I don't even like the concept, but to each their own. I haven't seen or heard anything about folks frying their servos so it must be working pretty good.

I fly 2S 3600's, new packs, got 9 flights each and still at 7.2 volts.

Seems to me that with unregulated your voltage will change throughout the flight meaning the heli will feel different at times.

Also, I don't like vary far from the manufacturers specs.

I run a comfortable 6.0V with the Arizona.

Note the Arizona will properly step-down your gyro and tail servo to 5V. Tail servos can't be run above 6V successfully for very long. There are many inline step-downs if you want to fly everything else unregulated.

Several of the newer tail servos can be used at a regulated 6V. The Align DS650 come to mind.

I use Outrage 5000mAh 2S packs in both my N9s

Reactor X(6.8V) and Arizona(6V) regs

7.0V loaded is my no fly voltage.
