I will see the result in 2 days...

Looks like no vibration dampeners, everything is rigidly fastened?

Not necessary to use dampeners

Why? What kind of vibes do you try to resolve?
High or low?
I ask cause in head conversion that you try, the only vibe that you can kill is the low vibe.

Yes it s low vibe for now, but a the beginning the vibes could be very violent until crash...I've been to see Gerd (Minicopter)and during near two days we made some test but, we don't really find the problem..
Evry time that my rotor head speed was around 1200 rpm the vibrations was there and if i put slower speed no vibes and if i put more speed the vibrations can be very violent...All the parts have been balanced...etc....
So i have decided to try a new rotor head stronger...we will see the result tomorrow ..

Yes, it sounds good - is it this head you have used?

http://cz.vario-helicopter.biz/shop...a597846b3842090

What other changes are necessary to use it?

We are fighting with vibrations too and this mod can probably help (I hope :-)

I think more easy is use 10mm shaft and use Vario head 1005/60
which for GS model.
Now I just changed Vario 10mm shaft the hole for main gear was no problem install and the length seems enough for the rotor head.

I fight with my Copterworks Joker Maxi2 more than 2 month.
It was really violent vibration every time.
The vibration shakes off the camera and broken servos,,,.
I hope my nightmare go out from me away sooner.

I going to test this week.

Hi Joss,

I have your visit a little bit different in my mind:

1. You came the late afternoon and my first impression was that your model is very heavy (15kgs/30lbs. about) and was using soft O-rings in the head. After changing to hard rings we have decided to make a small test flight but for more it was too dark now.
2. The next day the main problem we found was a heavy ground resonance caused from a too high gyro gain and the (understandable) fear to lift up the model. The gyro was adjusted to a very high value and has started a resonance circle with the soft landing gear. After reducing the gyro gain to a moderate level of about 40% and a fast lift-off now the machine flew well in hovering and you were happy.
3. Then your tail servo has failed in your opinion temporarily and you have decided not to make further tests higher in the air in forward flight. You have leaved us so about noon.
4. One week later you informed me on phone that eveything is working fine now.

These are my memories from your visit, am I wrong?

Where is your upside-down cranked tail? It has disappeared...

My recommendation: Down with the weight as much as possible!

Gerd,

Thanks for clarification. It is so interesting to see different perspective on the situation.

Personally I feel that the original poster has taken a perfectly good Maxi Joker and proceeded to butcher it by pointless modifications.

Some times just because some one can doesn't mean that some one should.

I am not familar with the Copterworks frame modification aside from seeing it in photographs.
Both you guys say you are using Vario heads.
What happened to the original Maxi-Joker head and did you use that when you first made the conversion?
