Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > Flybarless Raptor 90?

I just ordered a new V-Bar, and I plan to convert my Raptor 90 to flybarless.

Is there anyone who have done this? What head are you using?

I'm thinking of buying the RJX 12mm head for the T-Rex 700, the guy from the helidirect said the head would fit with some linkage adjustments. Anyone tried this head on the R90?

And how will the system react with this non-eCCPM machine? I have JR 8717 servos.

And is there a configuration file that exist where I can get initial settings?

Thank you!

Max

Tom Ralfson(sp) converted one of his R90Se's to V-bar at IRCHA. It was sick! I think you will love it. He said he head just set it up like any other V-bar machine and went to town. He was flying a modified stock head but I am sure the RJX head will do the trick just fine.

I also have ordered the RJX head, and I think it might need a few easy mods to fully adapt it to the R90 with perfect geometry.

I won't receive the head until next week, but I'll keep you posted.

I would expect that you will want to shorten the shaft with the RJX head.

I would hope that the RJX head will bolt on. No mods.

The only thing you probably have to do is find is the right size linkages.

I really fancy taking the Rappy Flybarless. A mate of mine has taken his Align 700 flybarless with V bar and has let me have a few goes and its giving me the bug!

I think the R90 head is already fairly low, so I don't think there will be a need to shorten the shaft. I'd be afraid of boom strikes with a lower head (this bird is notorious for boom strikes in its original setup, altough I never experienced one).

I'll try with the stock shaft and will modify as needed, if needed.

Got the RJX head a few days ago, nice for the price, altough I do not like the supplied plastic links.

Mechanical installation went good, altough on the T700, the main rotor hub attaches to the main shaft using 2 4mm screws that threads into the shaft. The Raptor shaft is a pass-through hole, so I installed a pass-through bolt with a locknut on the otehr side. A 4mm screws gave a little bit of play, so I used a 8-32 screw instead, which is a tight fit but there's no more play. I had to make an aluminium bushing to fill the recess where the original screw head was supposed to be (remember the hub is originally supposed to be held on the shaft with 2 4mm screws that threads into the shaft) because this recess is too small to accept a 8-32 locknut. With the bushing , there's no indue stress on the hub du to that locknut.

I will have to start playing with servo horns to find the right combination that will give the required cyclic and collective throws on this new head. I'm aiming at +-13 on the collective, and 10 degrees cyclic pitch. Don't know if these numbers sound right...

I installed the V-Bar in my T250 with a Microheli head to get familiar with the unit. It's a tight fit, but it works... Just did the first testhop a few minutes ago

Sounds good so far Maxime30,

The pass through bolt should be fine. I am a little confused about what you mean by using 8-32 screws.

The RJX head looks like it is a "pinch" style am I correct? So you use the pass through bold then tighten it on the mainshaft by tightening up the two bolts which "pinch" it to the head?

Dont' suppose you could take a few pics for us could you?

Cheers
