hey guys just thought I would ask how much weight will a t-rex 500 lift and what would I need to be able to mount a video camera to the bottom of the t-rex 500. also if the t-rex 600 would work better for this please let me know. also if any of you guys have done this or are doing this now some pics would be great. thanks.

I have seen professional stuff done on a 450 sized bird with a 600 sized bird being used for long shots.

If you guys want to see what they can do with AP check out "Tech Spy on the Wildebeast". There is even a wonderful crash where it looks like the belt breaks on the little heli.

It really depends on what you want to do.

all I would really like to do is be able to lift a camera or camcorder that will give decent pics and video. and I think that it would be sweet. how good is the video quality of those heli cams that xheli sells is it pretty good?

it always always depends on what you need to do. Don't forget, you need to also mount a transmitter on the heli so that you can get that video image back to a base station of some kind. You won't be, ussually, using that as a capture source, but you need it to know what your are taking pictures of. =)

What I would recommend is to get setup with a mount of some kind. Photohigher makes a bunch of small lightweight under slung mounts that would do well. Get your video downlink together and put it all on the heli. Don't forget your flight stablization if you plan on useing it. Then, using weights, find out what your max practical lift is. You can then use that to determine what the maximum weight of your camera payload will be.

hope that helps! =)

Lots and lots of choices here. You may want to talk to someone better versed in radio frequencies and wavelenghts than I. You want to insure you have an interfearance free frequency (2.4 is not a good one, nor is 14.4 or 28.8 or 56.6) and it all depends on how long of a range you need.

Anyhow, here is a link to a store that specializes in video downlink equiptment.

thanks for the link and help it has been great. now that I know what I will need to do this. it's time to try and decide which heli I want to get the trex 500 or 600 I guess it will depend on which heli will fit in my car the best. anyway thanks for the help.

Hi iceman320
Yes the 600 is very stable and using the HC means its almost a park it in the sky and take your pictures. It takes the stress out of hovering at any height.

Flight time is around 7 to 8 min with a bit of a safety margin and to be honest that's plenty of time.

A few more pictures are on my web site and my gallery
