My kit was from the second batch and had the 550 style one-way bearing. I have had zero issues with the one-way
Re the paddles, my kit came with hollow paddles which had the vinyl covering factory-fitted. I was a bit peeved because of all the complaints about these earlier paddles but I fitted them anyway and they went on without any trouble and perfectly straight. Don't know if I was lucky but, again, I've had zero issues and don't feel a need to change them.
As for the build, I really enjoyed it. This was something like my 45th heli build and it was one of the nicest. Parts count is quite high but parts quality is also high and everything fitted perfectly with just a couple of exceptions (see below). Total build time from opening the box to being ready to fuel was 14 1/2 hours.
The only area of this heli that requires special care during assembly is the tail pitch linkage which, because of its design, has to be built properly or it will bind. Once aligned correctly, it is super smooth and has zero slop. I'd also say that there isn't much room on the front radio tray for your gear if you have a setup with full-size receiver, lipo, regulator and governor and it took me longer than usual to get a neat installation which would fit under the canopy without chafing or rubbing. The painted canopies are great but it is annoying that they are not pre-drilled. Having worked it all out, I reckon my second Velo will take 12 hours or less to build |
