That was crazy, like they put an M-80 in it. What do you think caused that?

I think the blade roots were improperly done,or he was running way to much HS,sure sounds like it.had a kinetic a while ago that done the same thing, only about a foot off the deck.took out the top frames and the gyro when it exploded.

and about the 90 in the living room...absolutely crazy that was, could you imagine what would happen if that thing got loose?

it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

looks to me like way too much headspeed on wood blades.
thing ate itself alive when the blades failed.

This has been beat to death in the past guys..the collective servo was reversed. So as he gave it more HS the blades got closer and closer to the boom..until..BOOM

Wow, you guys are so good at accident investigation you should get a job with the NTSB.

How in the world can you tell from a split second (the actual explosion) video what happened?

My theory is different.

The canopy was obliterated. Anyone who has ever owned (and crashed) a Raptor knows those bleach bottle canopies are tough to break.

Had the blades initially struck the boom, I don't think there would have been enough energy left over to destroy the canopy.

I think that the canopy was sucked up into the rotor because of all that negative pitch. (it wouldnt have been clipped to the landing strut)

It's hard to know for sure what really happened since the video is poor quality. But I've got my theories.

3 years is enough time wasted. Taking a break for a while.

Dood check the vid at 1:15.
You only see it for a split sec, the canopy is laying on the left in once piece.
I guess the collective servo reversed is more like it.

And how are you so sure it's in one piece? I see the canopy but there is no way to prove its in one piece. I think thats just whats left of it.

WHAT IS SEE in the video, is a hundred pieces of white plastic shards spread all over the yard, none of which were scattered about before the explosion.

The only part of a Raptor 50 that can make a hundred white plastic shards is the canopy.

In the past my answer was what the conclusion was..doesnt nessisarly mean its correct. It could've been the canopy. I know the collective servo was reversed. watching the video closer you cant acctually see the blades hit the boom, although you cant see the canopy explode either. I bet in the explosion the windshield got knocked off and with other pieces flying it looked like the canopy exploded. No way to know really I guess

Because the bleach bottle R50 canopies do NOT break..they will fold, and bend, but will NOT break. Even if thrown strait into the blades. I belive the white pieces were the covering on the blades and the tailfins.
