guys, i was wondering how the power and lifting ability of a gas engine compares to a nitro, in particular the OS 50 vs the radical?
i am looking to use it on a scale application with 4 blade main rotor head. the scale of the heli is slightly to big for the 50. i think i would need to the power of a 60-75 size engine. any chance the radical could prick up the slack? or would i still have to go bigger for that. it would be perfect if i could use 4 720mm blades on the head or if that is too much to ask i would go with 660-680 maybe...
what do you guys think? could the G20EI be up to the task?

ok i just thought of what kind of a dumb question that was, i am sure if i need to swing 4 720 mm blades i need at least a 23cc engine right?
but still i would like to know when using 620mm blades, how much more weight can you pull up compared to a OS50 with 620 mm blades?

Radikal power

Well lets find out

I have several 4 blade Vario systems, I will put a system on and see what we have.

Based on what I have seen so far I think if you did something like a 14- 15 lb.scale machine I think it would be fine.

i think the g20 is a little too small for 4 710's, maybe 4 600mm's with a different gear ratio.

if im not blade bogging youll find me pack puffing

The longer the blades the slower they can turn. The real issue is weight. How much do you want to lift will dictate how much power you need. If it is scale, doesn't the scale dictate the length of blades?

What could be more fun?

thanks guys, and yes in this case i would like the blades to have about the scale length, i was hoping for the smaller airframe of the radical. the helicopter i am looking at is pretty low, and the clutch on the bottom of the vario mechs simply will not fit inside of it
i can keep looking for a match with a bigger engine, was just hoping for an easy fix to my problem
