Anybody who goes and gets a shot to help the body fight viruses to me is the most wrong thing to do period.

Our bodies have proven over time its ability to fight viruses like this, some you cant fight, but the odds are your better off to fight the virus on your own.

This starts not after you get the virus, but a healthy diet, eating the right foods, staying away from food that is a pure waste of time to eat.

Most wait till after they get sick or wait till after the doc says you need to get healthy.
And most important "Get off your AZZ's and get some exercise, every person should have about 1 to 2 hours of sweat work out, don't care how you get the sweat, but it needs to be done in order to fight off viruses and to protect yourself.
But like I say to many "if your lazy and don't take care of yourself then you deserve to be hit with a virus".
Not being rude in any way just stating the simple facts man.
Just like you have been seeing in the health debate going on, many in government want to award healthy people, ones who keep a good diet, ones who work out and do preventative maintenance for the body.
Don't smoke, don't drink heavy, etc.
Just imagine if the only people going in to see a doc are ones who really need it, and not the ones who don't take care of themselves and look for a shot, pill, etc to take care of them instead.
Just imagine how cheap insurance would be for many if we didn't overload the hospitals with items that can be preventive medicine.

I think your statement will anger some. I know a few people who are in top physical condition and take care of themselves and they got cancer or other illnesses.

You have valid points about taking care of yourself, however healthly people still get sick. I bet everyone reading this knows someone who got very sick who took care of their body's.

Your point pretty much says people who don't care care of themselves deserve to get sick. This is so untrue. No one deserves to get sick. I bet you would think differently if you son/daughter got a life threatening illness. I guess you would have to forgo their medical care since they chose to play a video game instead of doing a push up.

I'm glad you think your body can fight off viruses alone. This saves medication for the rest of us. The next time you get seriously ill, please refrain from going to the hospital and seeking medical attention. After all, you body will take care of itself. You don't hapen to be a jehovah's witness do you?

I have mixed feelings about this one. I too have heard about the levels of mercury in the H1N1 vaccine...and if its true I seriously feel bad for her.

However....from watching the Redskins this season, its not much of a stretch to say she is merely mimmicking Jim Zorn and his inability to coach an NFL team....maybe

vaccines actually boost the immune system, they don't weaken it. vaccines force the immune system to create anti-bodies that weren't present before to fight off specific viruses.

Those of you who think that vaccines break down or otherwise harm your immune system are truly ignorant individuals.

Also, eating right and staying physically healthy aren't the two magic bullets to fighting off a bad virus. Get off your high horse.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

Dude,
I gotta ask, What do you mean by that?

Jehovah's witnesses DO use health care, they just don't take blood transfusions. That is the only aspect of health care they don't partake of. I am a practicing nurse, belive me there are a lot of strange religious beliefs out there concerning health care, JW's are the least of it.

While I agree with you SSN,

But there are some risks assocated with vaccines.

Its just the benifits usally outweigh the risks.

The problem with the girl in the OP topic was that she had an underlying condition she didn't know about that was triggered by the vaccine she took.

I'm allways right 97% of the time..............So who cares about the other 4%??

My bad. Are you a Christian Scientist then? haha. Anyways, that is not the point. I just thought that maybe you have religious beliefs that influence your decisions. I don't know anything about religion and a JW was the only thing I can think of off hand that somewhat applied to this case but I guess a Christian Scientist would be more applicable (I believe you go to hell if you seek conventional medical attention).

There is no proof that the flu shot caused her symptoms though. I beleive more likely than not that they did, but I don't think there is any proof.

Any risk in vaccinations is a risk to some children.
It is not a risk to all children because without vaccinations there would be more child deaths and less children and that is a plain fact.

The only way you can reconcile not vaccinating your children is to admit you are prepared to risk all other children by not vaccinating your own, while your children benefit from all others, being put at risk by their own parents by them being vaccinated.

Thats is a selfish position no doubt, so those who have it should not expect sympathy for their position on anti vaccination from the others who are prepared to accept the personal risk for the benefit of all children.

Why should one side have to bear all the risk then have free loaders benefit from it by having everyone around them vaccinated except them
And working contrary to the interest of all others who bear the risks by not vaccinating thereby causing greater risk to those who already bore the cost of risk by vaccinating.

Partially true. Vaccines fool the bodies immune system into thinking the body has contracted the illness being immunized for. As a result the bodies immune system steps up its production of defense mechanisms.
The problem is some people cannot produce enough of the proper defense and or have reactions to ingredients in the vaccines typically.

I always have gotten an annual flu shot(Be it live or killed) and end up with a cold a couple of weeks later. I asked my Doc about it and he said it is normal for your immune system to be a bit off center for a while after a vaccination.

As far as the H1N1 vaccination forget it!
Too untested and the thing that really perked up my ears is the fact that when you sign your waiver you are holding the manufacture of the vaccine totally harmless for ANY reason. Gee, theres a great plan! Now this poor gal has no recourse for her life being permanently altered.
I think it(H1N1) is waaaay over hyped and saw no reason whatsoever for it to be declared a "Public Health Emergency"
Lets just call DUI a public health emergency too. Afterall it kills 38000+ each year as opposed to H1N1 at 2000.
What about the garden variety flu while your at it.

Now that I take the kiddo to school more often, I often here from other parents about the “link” to vaccines and autism. I hear it over and over again. What link is that? Is it the “I heard on T.V.” link? Or is it the “I heard from a friend” link? Absolutely ridiculous. I can appreciate people trying to figure out what happened to their child and look for someone to point a finger at. I went through the same thing myself when my kid was born with several congenital heart defects. But, nevertheless, vaccines have prolonged people’s lives in this country. The life expectancy in the early 20th century was between 30 and 40. The average worldwide expectancy worldwide for 2009 is 65. And guess what, it isn’t because we take zinc pills and drink orange juice. Part of the reason is because we have essentially eliminated a host of deadly childhood diseases.

I challenge everyone to try and find one credible study, a shred of proof positive, or any government released document that has ever proven that vaccines cause autism. For those of you out there that don’t believe in vaccines and prefer a homeopathic approach to their children’s care, here is a short list of childhood diseases we vaccinate for here in the U.S.

Diphtheria: attacks the lungs and heart and causes heart failure
Pertussis: leads to pneumonia, convulsions, brain damage and death
Polio: causes paralysis of one or both legs or arms. It may also
paralyze the muscles used to breathe and swallow and can cause death
Rubella: can cause brain swelling and bleeding problems. Pregnant
women can have blind and deaf babies
Hepatitis B: causes liver cancer and death

Are you willing to risk it? The choice is yours.

A quote from this web site:

http://www.informationclearinghouse...rticle11849.htm

About a law signed to protect drug compaines from reactions to their vaccines.
They wouldn't need this protection if it hadn't happed so many times that class-action suits were pending.
Quote
Trial lawyers and other groups condemn the law, saying it could make it nearly impossible for people harmed by a vaccine to force the drug maker to pay for their injuries
.

I am in the medical field and I have no doubt it happens, it is very rare when you consider the vast amounts of vaccines given, but reactions DO happen.

But do I think the vaccineations save more lives in the U.S then they kill or disrupt by causing horrific reactions?

Of course they do.
So for the greater good, they are definatly benificial.

But it is a little like playing Russian Rollette with a 1000+ shot pistol.

CJames,, I'm not arguing with you at all,, but if a Vaccine does not harm say 10 or 20 Million people then someone does die from taking the Vaccine can we really blame the Vaccine ??,, know what I mean ??, I mean people can die from eating Peanuts but we don't blame the Peanut, it's the body's fault why they can't eat Peanuts..

I have taken flu shots in the past to onlyturn in a couple of days and get the flu. When I don't take the shot I am fine. I swore this year I am not taking the H1N1 shot because of this but stiull got it anyway and it was ruff! I got a infection in my lungs a day after and thought I was dying. In the past after taking the shot they DR would always say " you had the virus before you took the shot" Bs I only get the flu when I took the shot. Now H1N1 is a different story. I diodn't take the shot and got it anyway.

Is it possible to get H1N1 again after having it?

Fly it like you stole it!
