YES!

I've used a bunch of different brands and eventually they all SUCK!

I've finally settled on the set-up that came with my Milli II and haven't had a problem since.

It consists of a standard RCA female plug mounted so that the negative portion of the plug is grounded to the engine.
Run the positive wire to the glow-plug and attach with a standard alligator clip.
You will have to change or build a new extension to your flight box.
A Ni-starter will not work with this set-up.

The benefits of this system are,

1) If the RCA plug craps out they are easy to get (But they don't crap out like a standard remote glow where the wire eventually pulls out).

2) No matter how cool and funky the plug attachment is (rubber boot, or cotter pin or?) they either eventually fail OR only work with one brand of plug. The OS #8 and Enya #3's usually require a different method of attachment for each ARRGGHHHHH! The alligator clip works with ALL brands.

There you go. It's not as cool as some of the remote glows but it won't leave you stranded at your next fun fly either.

my 2 cents (Canadian),

Blair

I have the TT remote glow extension myself and so far have not had a problem starting due to it. When ever I do have a problem it is always the result of a dead glow driver battery. Think I will have to get one of those drivers with a voltage indicator on them.

volare Make sure you have the black ground wire connected to a good ground. I have mine connected to one of the motor mount screws so it is always in contact with the engine.

Not a problem with them here

I use the TT type on ALL my heli's and have not had ANY problems with them, but I do mount ALL of them to an engine mount screw on the frame or mount itself. You've got to have good ground for any extention to work.

I agree, you probably have a bad ground connection. I've been using the TT rig since I first saw one, and have been MUCH more pleased with it than any of the others I've tried.

Of course, I haven't tried them all; that Schluter rig that Balir described sounds very nice.

I use a McDanials remote adaptor. I never had a problem and it can be ordered through the LHS.

I've used the McDaniel as well as the TT one and have never had a problem. As long as you have a good current path they should all work fine. The big trick is finding a suitable mounting place for them.

I use one from Dubro, and it works nicely. It doesn't have a 'cap' like some have.. it's kinda like a little spring clip that fits over the pin of the glow plug, and another wire going to the motor mount.. Works nicely, and it has a built in cap to cover it while not in use.

i havent used the TT one yet, but my buddy has it and it seems to work the best out of the ones ive used. i have a crappy one that you have to push and turn onto the glowplug, similar to the one in the pic that is posted, it fits too loosely!

I thought the TT had a push and turn cap on it as well. I know mine does. Unless I have my brand mixed up. Mine has a yellow wire going to the cap. I was sure the package said it was from Thunder Tiger but could be wrong.
Wouldn't be the first time that happened.

After struggling with all the different remote glows, I mentioned my problems at a fun fly one day and the guy asked me if I had blue locktite on the engine screw I used to mount the remote glow. That was the problem!!!....make sure you do not use any locktite on the one screw that you mount the remote glow with, it does not conduct and messes with the ground...after I removed the locktite from that one screw, I have never had another problem with the remote glow.....hope this helps someone out there and saves them all the aggrevation I had....Bill

TT will fail too...

I had the TT unit as well. It failed. The wire pulled out of the inside of the remote plug.

Just give it time.
