I'm in the same position. I have 4 Kong Power packs for my 450 that I just love. I'd buy those or 4 more of the Thunderpower V2 extremes 2650Mah 30C.
I have heard good news about Turnigy packs from Hobby King. $53 per pack for 6s 2650's for the 500. I am ordering 6 packs from them on Monday.

If money wasn't an option, I'd buy Turnigy and lots of them. For the price of one, I could buy several Air Thunder packs. I have three Air Thunder 2200 6S at $139 a pop. I'm going turnigy next time. I use 2200 3S Turnigy in my 450 and they are just as good as my Air Thunder packs.

I'd rather have several packs than just a few and if the batteries are just as good, why not?

Yes they do...I was wondering how the 20C battery compares to the 30C? I guess not as well because you can get 3 20C batteries for the price of 2 30C batteries.

I now fly Hyperion G3 VX 35C 3000mah and love them. I've even got two of them up to 50 cycles and have not puffed once and are still going strong.

I wish I could fly 24/7

I just built a Trex 500 ESP and ordered two of the Turnigy 6S 2650mah packs and they have been fantastic! I've been bumping up the flight times trying to get up to the 80% threshold. So far I'm up to 9 minutes (Mostly FF with a few loops and rolls) at 9 minutes the packs are only taking 1850 mah back in. When I land the pack, sc and motor are all barely warm. I also bought a new Cellpro 10S charger for the 6S packs...it's telling me the internal resistance is only about 2.9 vs. 17 and higher on my other (older) Air Thunder packs. Overall the packs seem to perform very, very well.

On a side note, I was trimming it out in the gym over the weekend and realized I'd not started the timer so I landed and packed it up. When I charged the battery it took back about 2552 mah...no puffing and no issues reported by the charger, voltage, internal resisance etc all look normal. Appears that I was very lucky, also no visible low voltage protection from the SC, I've confirmed that it's setup with it turned on. Does anybody know what the Align SC does to signal low voltate protection mode? Whatever it does it must be subtle, or the unlikely event that the pack may have not yet hit low voltage with over 95% of it's capacity depleted......any idea's

Yes I do....I flew a pack and forgot to chage it before going up. I usually fly 5 minutes. It came out almost as powerful as it usually does on a full charge. At about 4:30 mark the motor rpms and HS suddenly dropped drastically. I thought I burned something up. At that point I didn't realize what I had done so I hit TH and autoed it down. When I was checking it out right after the flight the motor was hard to turn over. I figured the motor was shot. It freed up a few seconds after I took the battery out. When I got home the pack voltage was right above 18V. This battery is a 3000MA battery and it took 2850 to recharge it.
Some of the individual cells varied in voltage by .09V. I balance charged it at .4A until all the cells were equal and then charged it at 1A to the 22.5V mark and after that finished the pack off at 3A to 25.2V. It did not seem to harm the pack. It still charges/balances perfectly and performs the same. Time will tell if I prematurely shortened it's life.

Outrage 6 cell 3000mAh batteries. I love them!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

i am fortunate that i get to fly with a bunch of rocket scientists and they try out everything.

My Turnegy 2650's are starting to puff after 35 cycles. I've always charged them at 1400mAh and only fly for 5 minutes of mostly sport flying. I've not notice any drop off in power yet.

So there just the same as all the other lipos after all, I was hopeing my ones would last forever

Ive got more than 30 cycles with no puff yet(60 or more), they may have lost some power but not enough to really notice yet, I still dont get much balanceing activity, usually with my bigger 5000 packs they start balanceing through most of the charge, the worse the pack gets the more balanceing, until there so bad the balanceing never stops.

Edit: I dont see how the 3000 mah packs work, Im finding the 2650`s are nearly too big as it is, I have alot of trouble trying to stop the canopy from rubbing on the main gear due to the pack pulling on the canopy, which also ruins the grommets. Ive even bent one of my canopy mounts of the thread and another one one its way, due to the 2650`s being so big, thats the only thing I dont like about them.

I have a pair of Turnigy 2650mAh 30C 6S for my Rexie 500.
They fly great.
They are also a pretty tight fit.
My friend uses 3000mAh Turnigy. He lowered the battery tray and sets the lipos sideways down inside the frame.
