Hi all

My fiancey is learning to fly and to day while hovering the heli drifted off to the left and increased in hight. She gave right cyclic input for correction but no reaction. Heli went high so she handed over the TX to me. I gave full right cyclic but still no response. Pushed further over by wind gusts it knife edged into the ground and the motor was screaming its nuts off. I flicked the kill switch but nothing happend. As I ran closer to the machine still trying the kill switch it finaly shut down as I got closer.

Thought it might have been a range problem but after crash we checked the range and it worked well from very far off. Both RX and TX batterys were at full power.

Can someone tell me what causes Lockout? I have searched but just seem to find info that dose not pin point lockout.

I use a DX7 on my Trex 500 and have had no issues with that at all. Is it a random 1 off thing that just happens?

Assuming you set the fail safe feature on your radio...

Does not sound like a lock out to me. It sounds like the receiver lost power. I would check your receiver switch and connections.

Keep an eye on your receiver.
I had a "lockout" on my new Srimok this summer (resulting in a heavy crash). It turned out that the receiver (which was new!) was the problem. A friend put it into a glider and after 10 minutes in failed and the glider crashed!

I had a lockout a few weeks ago and as far as I can tell it was my voltage regulator getting hot and losing power. Everything worked when it got back to the bench but it did not have power when I checked immediatly after the crash.

What goes up....ALWAYS comes down .

Just happened to me as well with my Trex700.

The connection between your receiver and the satellite receiver could have failed.
Your signal wire could have a break in it or the satellite rec. failed.

This is what ended up being my problem and it will make your receiver shut down.

I called my local hobby store and Horizon and they verified that this would happen.
They are changing this on the new receiver's so it does not shut down.

I will be running two satellite receiver's now.

Im not sure if a fail safe was setup or not. I had throttle hold and engine kill switch set. Found out today after the strip down that we destroyed the conrod and piston. The throttle servo broke off on impact and this is why it did not respond to the engine kill switch.

Still dose not explain the dead response and no reaction from the machine as it drifted into the dive that killed it. Lucky for us there was a guy at the club who just happend to have an entire frame of the same type of heli that he was about to sell. So we have a new frame, it just needs new blades and a new piston.

This TX is brand new and this was its 3rd flight, all just hovering. We may sell this one and get another DX7 so that we can buddy box and this will give me a better chance of saving the machine from the fiancey next time something happens.
