This is an unbelieveable system for the money. It has real time imputs, slide VR on each side, VR knobs up front and as many assignable switches as the 10CHG radio and also a lot of features; that, could only be found in the 12 and 14 Z models.

Let others know whay you think of the radio (good/bad).

I really like mine and find even more programing than I did in my 10CHG.

I think what makes it look that way is the new "ergo" sytle.

When you hold it and see it in person...you'll see it isn't cheap looking in person (so to speak)

I'll get some more pics up when I get back to the house!

Did I mention that is uses the same battery volts as the 12 and 14 Z and comes with

7.4VDC NiMhd narrow battery and special wall charger and inside of the battery bay...there is acess to the optional SD programable card...now you can go to Futaba and download the most recent software upgrades to the radio and also have unlimited storage...the card can be used with your PC to make model update. Guess where you can get the SD card...NOT FUTABA; but....any CVS, Walmart, Office Depot...etc. etc....

Will your current system do that; at a price ynder $500.00????

These may be better than the ones in original post.

On the pic with the battery removed and looking into the battery box (inside radio)...in the lower right hand corner is the slot for the SD memory card. Also the battery pack that comes with the 8FG is 7.4 NiMhd and the radio comes with a jam up new wall charger as well (higher charging rates)

Yeah! Looks can be deceiving...this thing is awesome

I'm still finding mixes and servo speed reductions, I didn't even know I had. This radio is by far way better than my 10CHG was and with the exception of loosing 2 channels has more funtions and options that the 10CHG!

It looks great. I'm thinking about picking one up, I like the size, shape, and balance. The backlit screen looks great as well. And I currently fly a 12z. This looks like it has everything I currently use in a less expensive, better balanced package with a screen I can see in any conditions.

Dunno, it seems dumb to downgrade, but there are some things I really like about the 8FGH.

Eury...I felt the same way; but I only lost 2 channel (seldom used) and gained

More features and program only found in the 12Z and 14Z Futaba's for 1/3 the price. Love mine so fare...only problem I have had is me try to mash the fire out to the "IPOD" sensor ring on this thing....just lightly touch it and it's there...good to go! Not to mention that it is already set-up for Transmitter 7.4 li-po, without any modification!

The sticks are nice as well. Not quad bearing like the 12 and 14's but still supported with BB's. They feel REALLY good.

This is a darn nice radio.

Just read the manual, nice radio. It has a large percentage of the features I love about my 12z. However, I found that it is missing the acceleration function. Thank god, I was searching for a reason not to buy it, and that's an awful weak reason, but it is one so I don't need to buy another radio.

Mine was bound out of the box...however...better safe than sorry...so link it up...

when you get it and be sure. With heli's I've found that to be the rule of NEVER assume that it has been...make sure that it is.

EURY:
I to read the manual and found it to be 99% accurate...however...I had to call Futaba to find that I actually had function that I didn't find in the manual. Throttle control settings.

Just for everyone and Eury's FYI.

If you already have the 12 and 14 Z's...I wouldn't sell them for the 8FG

Like I said earlier...this radio had functions the my new 10CHG didn't have and I needed them of a Scale bird to make it realistic.
So the new 10CHG went out the window. I was also a little skeptical about this down sizing for funtions.

THIS IS WHAT MADE ME CHOOSE the 8FGH. UNDER $480.00; as apposed to the 12Z at $1200.00 and the 14Z at $2200.00 and since I do not fly Competition and NATS and FAI F3C anymore...I just could not justify paying that kind of bucks to have the bling and never use it...

Less than half the price of the 12Z and 1/4 the price of the 14Z.
This radio beats the 7ch and the old 9CHP hand down and having had the JR X9303; It even is as close to; heck, it is better than the 9303....more usable functions and some I'm still finding out about.
If I had to complain about anything; it would be. that, Futaba could have spent a little more time on the manual and cover all of the features this radio has. I also realise to keep the cost down...they (Futaba) didn't want to include a manual like the one that comes with the 14Z.

Eury you are not alone in being a 12z owner trying to fend off the urge to sell it and pick up this new radio. I think Ill keep the 12 though as the resale will plummet with these hitting the market. Not willing to take the financial hit.

Kinger...can't say I blame you...if I would have had the 12Z or 14Z...I'd kept them

and watch the market...I do not think that the 12 or 14 will ever end up like the JR 10sx, though.

Does the 8 have the plate that is fitted over the gimbal to release the throttle centering spring? I ask because the 9 and the 10 has them so you can change the radio from mode 1 to mode 2. I also ask because I found a place that has mode 1 in stock but not mode 2.

The manual for both the 8 and 10 suggest you have to return the radio if you want the hardware changed from mode 1 to mode 2.

The manual for the 9 shows you how to do the hardware change.
