This helicopter will be available around 90 days after IRCHA. We are in the process of ramping up production and shipping pending Aurora kit orders from the new facility and as soon as the pending shipments are completed we will start shipping the e-Aurora kits.

That's our goal and so far it seems we are on the way to meet it.

Did you catch who that was in reply to?

Jrockstuart, you need to relax. It's as if you think asking the same question over and over slightly reworded and on 3 different forums is going to get you a different answer.
You're not going to get a different answer.

If you want to keep up on the latest info, check http://www.avantrc.com/ regularly. Make it your homepage if you have to.

And I don't think you're going to get a "release date"
I think whats going to happen is this:

The kits will be boxed and placed on pallets and shipped to heli retailers around the world. Once the kits and parts have arrived at the dealers, you'll then see an announcement, likely on AvantRC.com and the advertisements on the heli forums & other sites stating that the eAurora is "NOW AVAILABLE" or "IN STORES NOW". Thats when the helicopters will go on sale.

It's great that you're excited about the release of the heli just understand that no one wants to see the heli released more than the folks at Avant RC.
Sit back, fly what you have and let Avant do whatever it is they have to do to get the heli to market.

3 years is enough time wasted. Taking a break for a while.

Wow!!! Such hostility. I just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to talk about this helicopter. Would it be better if I had chosen another title for the above topic such as, "Hey, I'm bored. Who wants to talk about the E-Aurora?"

I'm sorry, but the official AvantRC forum is dead. But perhaps I made a mistake. Maybe I should go back over to the gasser forum on Runryder where the people are more friendly?

To answer your question, Avant stated only 14 days ago they are on course for the 90 day predicted availability date. No one will know any more than them. And lets face it, if they are not selling, they are not making money, it's in their own interest to meet the 90 day date.

So...

Is anyone excited about this new helicopter? Looks like there are a few new electric 90's coming out. How do you think the Aurora compares?

Well, I guess we're all exited and can't wait.
- But then just ask somehing else we can discuss over

IF I decide to go electric, I will without doubt choose the Aurora.
- partly also because many parts matches my Nitros.

I am even more exited about the 50, to see how many parts will fit on the 90 N/E. I guess they have to lighten the parts alot (Head assembly, tail gearbox etc.) for a 50 size.
If many part fit both i will for sure go for the 50 size.

I *know* and electric aurora will fly good known that for year now

For me though, the final weight of the kit will make me decide if I going to "upgrade" my existing E-aurora or not.

There is massive part overlap btwn the electric and nitro. The prototype I built just before IRCHA used EVERYTHING from the nitro with the following exceptions...

- carbon sideframes (3 pcs of carbon, mb 2 with the newer frameset)
- motor mount and pinion
- diff length carbon t/r pushrod
- an extra common frame spacer

That's it. Everything else was the same - I built mine with just the handful of items above + spares I had on hand for my nitro helicopters - all the CCPM pushrods were the same.

Lovely - I guess it will be a little more complicated for the 50 size.

What do you think the total weight of the E-Aurora will be, maybe with some light batteries and a small ESC?

The AUW of the E-Aurora should be around 10-10.6 lbs. ready to fly. The weight of the helicopter will of course vary with the equipment used, but I think most of the team pilots have theirs around 10.2 lbs.

Do you think this 10.2lbs is with a Castle Creations 110HV ESC as seen in the pictures? I understand this ESC is quite heavy compared to the Kontronik.

Also, those big 45C batteries (in the new pictures on the AvantRC website) have to be quite heavy. I know that my 25C batteries are considerably lighter than my 30C batteries of the same capacity. I can't imagine the weight of the 45C batteries. Or did ThunderPower make their new batteries quite light?

the extra weight is counteracted with the increase in power in that case.

I read somewhere that ThunderPower was going to cut the price of all their batteries by 25%. But last time I checked the TP website, the 6S 5000mAh 45C ThunderPower batteries were going to run $300 each. Is this the actual retail price, or just the list price?

As MrMel said the weight of the batteries is counteracted by the extra 3.4 horsepower gained with the E-Aurora. The E-Aurora's AUW is actually the exact same as our nitro helicopters when fueled.

By 2013 when this heli comes out, there will be a new style

of battery,so it dosent matter what battery is selling now.

I waited for over a year for that nitro 90 to come out it still

not for sale anywhere. It looks like a nice heli, but lifes to

short to waste on dreamers......
