more pix tomorrow. This thing looks like a FAST build!

I have a lot to learn about the larger electrics. I've been through about 10 T rexs and they all did great on a 2200 mah pack. Now I have to learn all this high-voltage electric stuff. Gonna be interesting.

fuselage lower box. As fast as you can grab parts and appyly CA it goes together. Wood quality is SUPERB, laser cutting is phenomenal!!

There is brown laser dust everywhere though. Hazmat?

the canopy and doghouse are retained by these balsa strips. The canopy and doghouse front are one piece, split from the rear of the doghouse right at the mainshaft line. pretty cool.

These are the cheek cowls. just a bunch of blocks. Also the TSU and gun fairings are little blocks. I LOVE CA glue!

How you find the build compared to the Cobra 60?

Tail assembly is belt instead of shaft. I am told this is the same as the E-cobra. you can use either a nyrod, or tail bellcrank for the rudder control

its not as big as the 60 cobra, about a foot shorter. but this picture makes it look as big. This is a FAST build, especially with CA. The tail tube isnt in yet, but its a telescoping tube that tensions the belt. The clamp for the telescoping tube is really high quality. There was no suggested tail height measurement in the 60 cobra, in this kit there is.

tail gets pulled together around the ply tail support. Tail blocks go in the back like the big cobra.

here is the hatch on the bottom. There is a LOT of room in there for the esc and rudder servo. I am going to put a little antenna on the bottom so I can grab the hatch and pull it open.

all of the fuselage upper and lower skins are pre cut to size, except for whats in front of the hatch area. Thats just standard cross grain from the stock supplied. There is ample stock in these kits for some goof ups on the grain direction. The upper fuselage skin has a pre-cut hole that fits exactly over the vertical tail assembly. You need to think about the nyrod installation for the tail before sheeting up the bottom though. There is some close routing so that the nyrod will clear the belt idlers and not have a tight bind. It took me several trys on the nyrod, it really needs to be relaxed or its going to bind up the servo. I think I have it though

heres the lower skins, they just pop out of the sheets and CA into place. Moving to the upper trans housings and canopy area.

there is a bend in the fuselage, so i inserted the wood into the lower fuselage and then scored it slightly, and bent it over the sharp edge of a table, I did the same with the ply pieces. the fit right into the lower fuselage slots without any binding. I am doing a lot on this cobra that I wish I did on my big 60 build. As I look at the box and the remaining parts left I'm thinking "man thats it?" this thing will be done in just a few days

wait till you see the forward doghouse/canopy section. If I built another 60 cobra, I'd incorporate everything from this build into it. Even the canopy is SO much simpler.

to me this thing builds like one of the old Ace simple series kits. But nicer of course. As fast as you can grab a part and CA it, its together. Epoxy is needed in some spots.

you can see the canopy/fwd trans housing sides, and then the whole upper together with the bulkheads. Its already split for you at the mainshaft line. This is really cool!
