Bought one and tested this summer. Below is a review I wrote back in July

My quick overall score, maybe a 7 out of 10. in fact I think my favorite stabilizer is still the AP2000i.

Gyrobot 900 Pros/Cons

Pros:
small and light, very easy to find a spot for it
attractive polished aluminum case
extremely easy to program
fairly good instruction manual
complete with servo wires and mounting tapes
programmable from the field with the optional Cockpit programmer
doesn't take up a calibration/autotrim channel like the Ap2000i or Helicommand
built in tail gyro seems to be much better than the Helicommand
the feel while flying more closely matches that of a regular helicopter without stabilization

Cons:
does not "snap" back to level as well as AP2000i or Helicommand
drifts much worse than Ap2000i or Helicommand
cost ($750 for the Gyrobot 900 with Cockpit programmer)
does not have hover roll adjustment like the Helicommand does (for hovering into the direction of tail rotor)

What kills it for me is it's lack of bringing the heli back to level after releasing the sticks. It will bring it close but stop short by a few degrees. Those few degrees is enough to send it off drifting VERY fast. It is odd to me that this would happen as it has 3 accelerometers that should be able to bring the helicopter back to perfectly level every time. It seems to perform worse in this respect than both the AP2000i or the Helicommand.

A nice feature when using the Beginner mode is the ability to set a maximum tilt/roll angle for the helicopter. Mine is currently set to 20 degrees which means no matter how far I push the sticks the helicopter will go to 20 degrees and remain. Good for stable video flying but not so good in an emergency where you may need to quickly yank and bank. For an emergency situation you must flip back out of Beginner mode to Standard mode. Going back to Beginner mode is only acceptable when the helicopter is level because a new calibration is performed when going into Beginner mode. If the helicopter was banked sharply to the side or nose up/down which entering Beginner mode it would spell disaster.

I was very impressed with how quickly and easy it was to program. I have spent hours trying to get the Helicommand Diagnose tab controls to match that of the radio and helicopter swash trying countless combinations of settings. Not so with this unit. The Gyrobot 900 is one of the easiest eCCPM mixers I have ever set up.

I've emailed tech support about my nasty drift and lack of return to level and was told it is performing as designed.

Basically I guess I'd give it a score of 9.5 in terms of a eCCPM mixer but the stabilization feature in Beginner mode gets a score of 5.0. Thus my overall score of about 7.0.

PhotoShip One you say this was easier to setup than I hate to try the others.
here's mine with the GyroBot900 still setting it up it takes forever!~

it flies like its being flown by a computer, like your not in total control. but I am still setting it up so it will probably get better

I guess because I've done so many stabilizer installs I felt The Gyrobot was really easy, but I promise if the Gyrobot is testing your patience then the Helicommand would test it even further fiddling with servo directions in that pesky "diagnose" tab.

Come back with more info as you fly it more. I haven't flown my Gyrobot 900 in a couple months.

My favorite is still the Helicommand or AP2000i. Soon I'll be working with a Helicommand Profi/GPS can can't wait to compare it to the rest (in terms of setup).

I wont go into how to set it up because the instructions are available online. To me it seems like a lot of instructions to follow at first, it was like I was learning to set up a helicopter for the first time. The instructions were obviously translated from a german language because a lot of it was hard to follow, so there is a lot of thinking outside the box in order to get it done.

I hate reading threads were people get to far along in talking about the product before the talk about flight performance so I am going to jump right in. this will be in comparison to the stock Predator Gasser and not another Flybarless system. It was a noticeable difference during the initial hover. The instructions tell you not to pre-compensate during lift off and to quickly go to a 3 foot high hover. totally not a normal practice for an experienced pilot. now after you get past that the heli flies like it is not totally your control. it is very locked on per-say. let me explain. it stays were it is programed to stay verses were you put it.In the instructions it also says that you should not trim it if you are using Beginner mode, and I planed to do so but during the initial set up you must fly it in standard mode first.I had to make a few adjustment to the I and P on the rudder but left Aerilon and Elevator settings the same. I did how ever change the ATV on the radio to make it much more responsive than it was . it was very docile/ very beginner style flying.

One thing I need to point out before I describe how I felt the Gyrobot 900 flies. If you have it in beginner mode you just hold the sticks slightly in the direction opposite of the drift to trim it out release when the heli is staying in that spot. ( Just like a heading hold gyro but a lot slower to react to the hold position. now back to standard flight performance
It flies like this. It is defiantly not on its own when your sticks are neutral (hands off) it is really stable not much of a difference in standard and beginner mode here, But the difference than a flybar heli is this flybar helis will tip once balance is lost and you can move the sticks ever so slightly to correct or it will crash. with the gyrobot it is not that responsive in the middle until the Gyrobot realizes that you really mean that you want to move the heli. this is good if you fly behind the response of the heli but if you are like me were I have a GOOD habit of flying ahead of the heli ( not waiting for the heli to move before I react)then you will be chasing your own movements, correcting for your own mistakes. after several flights I have gotten used to it, and I had to really bump up the ATV.
I do see a slight increase in performance due to the less rotating mass, and I had to alter my throttle due to how much faster it spools up increasing my head speed to much during certain pitch transitions. now if you are going to use it for AP then it does Drift in beginner mode, much more drift than I think it should. it will be difficult to get a shot off in the spot you want if you rely on the Gyrobot. Now don't get me wrong it does keep the helicopter very stable (horizontal) but if you fly long enough you know horizontal flight does not mean it wont drift. there is always a slight angle of attack for a heli to remain in one spot. I am still working on trying to get this problem worked out since this is what I bought it for and I feel that if this thing cost this much it should do it.

I have not tested beginner actro And I don't really wish to since I bought it for AP and I have three other helis that I use for 3D flight and I really don't think it teaches inverted flight well and Someone should not depend on it as a recovery do to the fact that at a 90 degree angle there should be a lot of corrections you should do before you get in to inverted flight that need to be learned. If you want to learn that get a SIM its cheaper to

This is what I think Let me know your questions I will try to address them according to my research of the Gyrobot 900

Soon As I can find a good person to hold the camera I will post a video.
