I have Real flight and I use it alot because I am not very good
with the real helo. But here is my problem, When I go from sim to
real, the helo seems slow and sloppy it doesn react like the sim.
It seem like I am always behind. Today I flew two battery packs
in real without crashing for the first time. Then I flew the sim
and the sim is WAY touchy, almost too quick. I was all over the place
so how do I get these two to be closer to each other so I can get
better? I feel like I need to slow the sim down and speed up the real helo.

Go into Simulation, then settings, then physics, then adjust the physics speed down to about 92 or where it feels more like the real thing speed wise.

Realflight is a very powerful program that can be tweaked to be almost exaclty like the real thing. Takes a long time of playing with the settings to get it right. Out of the box, it absolutely sucks! It's awesome once you get it dialed in though!

THanks! I knew there had to be a setting but I was trying the controller. Didnt even cross my mind to find the physics model!
And supposedly I am an engineer.

Another good trick to get the feel right is the flybar paddle weight. Play with that to adjust cyclic speed. You have to edit the aircraft for that. Make sure you save the aircraft as a different name so you can refer back to the stock model.

+100 on Ghostrider's post - he is one of the few guys that I find that knows to tweak the sim.

I click on "aircraft" then "edit (name of heli) - this gives the total configuration menus. Here you can tweak your heli to do anything you want.

I have spent about 3 months just flying and tweaking my Trex 600 model that I fly. Tips I can give it cut the paddle weight in half. I count my piro rate on my nitro and match it in my sim. Ex 1 prio per second. I did this with my roll / flip rates too.

I found my preference on physics speed is around 130 to match my 600 Nitro. I set it to 70 - 90 to slow things down to train on new moves. Please keep in mind these settings I have found to be specific to your computer. When I set my heli up and emailed the profile to my buddy it did not work. Go figure!

each time I edit the heli, I save it under the same name and put v2, or v3 at the end of the file name.

you can set everything you can on a real Rc heli.
Have fun with it.

If you feel the helicopter you are flying is to fast a twitchy, you can use the dual rates switch. It's on the Interlink CH.5.

Great tips, I have always wondered how to make adjustments on Real Flight, I mean i have made a few, but sometimes i think i have made it worse. Not knowing what to adjust is the key here i believe.
Also, is it true that you cannot use multi player from say 4.5 to people who have 3.5?

4.5 and 3.5 version are not compatible in multiplayer. You must have the same version to use multiplayer together.

Although I use Phoenix and not Realflight this is what helped me get my sim and real heli flying very, very similar. After a day of flying at the field, when I got home, I would immediately get on the sim and start flying/tweaking the sim heli. I found that because of the short time that had elapsed before getting on the sim, the sim flights was like continuing the days flights at the field, so any differences between the two were much easier to see and tweak out.

A tip that helped me, hope it helps you,
Dave

Ok, but what are the things you tweak on the sim. I have both brands and knowing what to tweak and what not to tweak would be helpful.

For Realflight here is a good example for Heli's. With Physics at 100%

First, delete the tail fins from any helicopter you are flying. This will allow the tail to hold better in maneuvers.

Right click and delete the fins.

Next adjust the servo speed to something faster.
Example
Tail servo .05
Aileron .10
Elevator .10
Pitch .10
Throttle .14

Make adjustments to the Gyro. The numbers I have in there are a good example for larger helis.

If you have delete the tail fins the center of gravity might be off. You only need to adjust the "Y" axis.

If you want faster cyclic you can adjust the cyclic and amount of pitch.

If you feel the motor does not bog enough or pull hard enough you can adjust that here. First you must turn on the advanced options under options.

A change of 5 or 10 is a lot when adjusting motor torque.

If you have other questions feel free to ask.

The very first tweak I always do is to a sim dedicated memory in my Tx is to match servo direction to my real heli so if I happen to do a start-up in the sim memory , nice to know the nitro will have the same inputs even if there off a little.( haven't done this yet, but always a first time).
Not sure if what I tweaked will be helpful because remember I'm matching my heli which for me is me is a docile scale like flying heli. I disabled the governor,(don"t have one) so I had tweak the throttle/pitch curves in my Tx.
In phoenix I tweaked the tail piro rate per second: the maximum/minimum main rotor pitch and perhaps a couple more, but I did this awhile ago and nothing in the Phoenix model edit screen reminded me of something I tweaked other than perhaps the gyro sensitivity.

Hope this helps,
Dave
