I have almost two gallons thru my preddie with 5 oz of lawnboy ashless oil. I was wondering if i can switch over to amsoil synthetic oil at the same 5 oz/ gallon mix. Iam a newbie and don't want to fiddle too much with the needle settings that Raja set for me at heli invasion.Thanks

5oz, is alot of synthetic.. I use 2oz, of Amsoil, but alot of guys run 3 to 3.5oz per gallon,,,, XGM/VGM

Put 3.5oz in of the Amsoil not 5oz, that's too much agree with John. People use stuff all over the board, with 2oz being the minimum as John does and 5oz being the max as Chris Bergen does. I choose to be in the middle of both extremes at around 3.5oz.

So, if you want to follow me, put 3.5oz.
If you want to follow John, put 2oz.
If you want to follow Chris, put 5oz.

Depends on who you talk to!

3.5 oz it is

Iam using 3.5 oz in my bergen. Do i need to richen it a little for my preddie when i switch it over to 3.5 oz of amsoil.

It may work just fine with the new oil mixture. I wouldn't start tweaking needles until you try it first. Usually you have to tweak needles between summer and winter, that's the biggest factor.

Going from 5oz per gallon to 3.5oz per gallon is like going from 3.75% oil to 2.66% oil in the gas, its only 1% difference you think you're going to tweak the needle to optimize for that 1% change I think that would be tough. By the time you change the needle I'm sure you will overshoot the optimal setting and end up somewhere maybe worse than it was before you started.

But yes technically maybe you need to richen it a smidgen, but all I'm saying is it may not be necessary depending on how it runs.
