My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Hey has anyone ever used their 7c on a boat? Right now I have the jr xp6102 and a raptor 50, I need to upgrade to the 7 channel, but I also need a new remote for my boat. I have found a few 3 channel radios that would be nice but for the price I mine as well get a 7c with a 2nd receiver. knock out 2 birds with 1 stone kinda thing. I read that the new spektrum marine rx is using the air systems to work better on water which made me think about upgrading to a 7c for the heli and boat. any input would be nice. Thanks

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I've got a 12FG programed on a buggy and it works good. It should work on a boat.I'm using a 7ch 2.4 fasst rx in the buggy also.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		It would work fine. Whatever transmitter your comfortable with is the one you should choose. I use a Futaba 3PKS 2.4 with my boat and cars and I use stick transmitters with my airplanes and helicopters. Its easier to program and use a wheel radio with cars and boats, but if your use to sticks then go for that.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		2.4ghz DOES NOT like water. It can't penetrate it.

I've run into a problem using 2.4ghz on my car in the winter when melted snow (thats water) on the body completely locked out my radio.

I experienced the same thing when a snow bank came between me and the car.

I know of Float Plane competitions prohibiting the use of 2.4ghz.

I know light misting rain can affect your transmitters range with an aircraft.

If you do use it on your boat, make sure you double check your fail safes.
If you lose control, your boat might be bobbing out there for a couple minutes.

3 years is enough time wasted. Taking a break for a while.

The nature of 2.4ghz, regardless if it says Spektrum or Futaba, is that it doesn't penetrate through water.


See the long antenna wire sticking through the top of the boat? Thats there for a reason.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		When Spektrum came out with their marine radio, lot's of us went all out and replaced our old gear with the 2.4 Spektrum. Very soon we realized that Spektrum (1st and 2nd marine generation) wasn't all that great and we started replacing them with Futaba FASST. Today about 92% of us are Futaba FASST and most of us leave the antenna inside the fuselage.

It may snow here about once every ten years,if it snowed more than that i would move to Florida i HATE snow and i hate the winter. I'm 6ft 1inch and i way a 145 pounds so i can't take the could at all.
