I BET YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT THE TA AND TC DESIGNATORS, AND THAT IS WHY TC DOESN'T SHOW UP IN ANY OF THE INFO I HAVE. SINCE THE EMISSION SPECS ARE DIFFERENT IN CANADA, THE TC MAY NOT HAVE THE RESTRICTED CARB JET.
I FOUND THE TA WAS THE EARLIER ENGINE AND HAD LARGER JETTING WHILE THE TA2 HAD THE SMALLER RESTRICTED JETS.
YOU'LL HAVE TO INSTALL THE ENGINE, FLY IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. REMOVAL OF THE JET REDUCTION BUSHING IS EASY AND NON DISTRUCTIVE TO TRY. SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT MODELS, CARBS AND POWER, YOU JUST HAVE TO GO FOR IT AND MAKE IT WORK.
I MOUNTED THE MECHANICS TO THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE AT THE TAIL BOOM END OF THE HELI AND TO THE CRANK CASE AT THE FRONT END OF THE HELI. THE SKIDS MOUNT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE AT THE PULL STARTER MOUNT POINTS. THE ENGINE CASE IS VERY ADEQUATE AS A MAIN STRUCTURE AND SOME WEIGHT IS SAVED BY THIS SCHEME.
YOU NEED TO ACTUALLY HAVE THE ENGINE IN HAND TO DETERMINE HOW YOU WILL ADAPT IT TO YOUR MECHANICS. BECAUSE OF THE SHAPE OF THE CASE, IT WON'T MOUNT LIKE A GLOW OR G23, ETC.
YES THE COOLING FAN IS PART OF THE FLYWHEEL. YOU WANT TO RETAIN THE FLYWHEEL FOR BALANCE. I REMOVED THE PLASTIC/ALUMINUM COOLING SHROUD AND MADE MY OWN OUT OF LIGHT WEIGHT ALUMINUM SHEET (USED FOR ROOFING
CONSTRUCTION).
I DID FIND ONE WEB PAGE THET SHOWED SOME GX31 MODELS TO BE 1 HORSE POWER, BUT WHEN I TALKED TO THAT POWER EQUIPMENT DEALER ABOUT IT, HE SAID ALL GX31'S WERE 1.5 HP. HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY THEIR SITE SHOWED SPECIFIC MODELS TO BE 1 HP.
