ok guys I got a new gyro for my belt cp and put it on tonight. but I'm still have the same problems that I was having before. every time I spool up the heli then the gyro light will start blinking. but if I let the heli set and wait for the gyro to calibrate noting. what the heck is going on here? could there be something wrong with my tail servo or would there be something wrong with rx that's on the heli. the new gyro is a dynam gy48v. any help getting this problem solved would be great as I want to be able to fly the belt again sometime.

regardless of the "blinking" of the gyro --- does the heli lift off and does the tail hold in somewhat of a "position" ??

no I can not get the tail to hold. but I have also noticed that when the heli is just sitting if I move the swash left and right and forward and backward the light on the gyro will start blinking. is that normal?

The red LED on the Futaba GY401 and its clone, the G401B, blink during any cyclic input. Therefore, I would say that is the same for your gyro...it's probably normal.

First time I hear this. You wanted to say on rudder input?
Just checked it does not blink on cyclic input. Not on any heli. Even on 4G6

If it does blink, something is wrong with Tx or Rx or connections. How can gyro sense channels other then rudder and gyro gain?

Maybe you have mix setup?

I think that something must be wrong with my rx on the helicopter cause when i move the cyclic the led on the gyro will start blinking and then sometimes the tail servo will move when the cyclic servo's are moving. so I think that I might take the rx out of the heli and see if something is wrong inside it and make sure that all my connections are in the right spot. it's either got to be something wrong with my rx or the tail servo now do you think?

I had the same problem, center your rudder servo on your transmitter; however, that was with the stock gyro.

Doug, a few weeks after i had filmed that video I had a crash from about 15-20 feet up and ever since then I can't get the tail to hold with any gyro I try. i have checked and I have the servo's and gyro plugged in right. but I noticed something else last night when I move the swash I have one servo that will hang up and when it hangs up that's when the light on my gyro will start to flash. so I'm wondering if maybe that servo could be shorting out something in the rx and making things not work right? could that be possible?

I got all new servos for my belt cp today in the mail today got them installed tonight. and the light on the gyro doesn't come on now when I move the cyclic servos. so I must have had a servo that was shorting out and messing things up or something.

okay so I got my belt cp setup again and went out to setup the tail. I spooled up the heli and it shakes like a bugger the heli doesn't rotate or anything so maybe I got lucky and got the tail setup the first try. but anyway I took the heli back apart and don't see anything loose or any bad bearings or anything. so maybe my blades need re-balanced but what else could make the heli body shake like that? I have also put in a new main shaft? thanks for you help.

Shakes in the body are usually a bent main shaft, or unbalanced blades. Pull the main shaft and check it against straight edge, or roll it on a glass table.

ok guys I balanced my main blades again and it seems to have took out most of the shaking. it still shakes a little on the ground but when it gets in the air the shaking stops. so I will take it out tomorrow and see if I can fly yet or if I still just crash. so I think that I finally got my belt cp up and flying again after two months. now to decide on a bigger heli project for winter.

Yeah, head balance plays a lot of setting up the heli. I setup my head in stages.

First remove the head and spin it up see if the main is good.

Then I put in head without blades or flybar paddles and spin it up.

Adjust the flybar until no vibes..

Next install the fly bar adjust until no vibes.

so now that it doesn't vibrate as bad i guess i will order some extra sets of main blades to have on hand for my two 450 heli's and a a spy cam from xheli. and than I think that I will order a set of t-rex 500 main frames so that I can start my t-rex 500 build. Cause building a heli from scratch sounds like fun when i want to stay indoors this winter.
