I’ve never owned a turbine heli but have wanted one for a while and I’ve finally decided to take the plunge.

I’m looking at the JetCat SX or Intrepid Turbine - what would be the better choice?

I don’t need to do any heavy lifting or anything specific, though would probably like to stick a camera mount on it at some point just for fun.

I own a scalecopter zyclone evo2s...its big. I fitted a wren44 turboprop engine to it. Maybe something like that would fit the bill.
I think the 44magnum would be a great heli and fairly cheap too, considering what you get.

No doubt the magnum looks like a great heli, I was just hoping to get something a little bigger. It only swings 710mm blades where the Intrepid and JetCopter both swing 810mm ones.

Will take a look at the scalecopter.

Thanks.

Go with Bergen , good quality , proven design , very stable , parts availability , it seems that most all owners are happy.

I agree, flew one a while back, and again this weekend. I had forgotten just what a great machine these are. Extremely stable in hover. I also really like the Jakadofsky turbine, super reliable, super easy, especially for a first turbine user. Mine is in a Lama that has countless flights, its been charge it, fuel it, fly it!

I know you didn't put the Jaka in the choices, but look at it. I enjoy mine.

I just got my 44 Magnum yesterday! The engine and helicopter kit are impressive. The big drawback is the lead time for the engine. That does tell you how popular they are, though. Don't think you would have that problem with the larger Bergen with the MW54.

Jetcopter

Just would like to share you my experiences.
Jetcopter with Jetcat is a good alternative.
This heli is excellent.

But I replace some parts~
1. a stronger landing skid custom-made by the manufacturer of Birdy folding bike (only because he is my brother, hahaha). I also add 2 bike's wires to reinforce the skid.

2. I replace everything above the swash plate with Align 700 parts for better clearance between main and tail blades in order to let me install 850mm main blades.

3. Align 700 rotor head system has better quality than the original set and better parts supply(in Taiwan, for me).

This heli is pretty heavy, I am thinking about buying my 2nd lighter turbine~ Wren 44 with Align 700"T".

Thanks everyone for all your responses and suggestions... I've narrowed it down to the Bergen Intrepid and the JetCopter SX and was really looking for opinions on which to get.

90 degree CCPM swash plate

Hi, you might need to pay attention to a major difference between Jetcopter and Intrepid Turbine.

Jetcopter uses 90 degree CCPM and every movement is controlled by 4 servos together. Every servo's burden is light & easy.

Much easier set up (as shown in picture) than conventional HPM.
