I am running the Vario 5 blade rotor head on a Hughes 500 E.
Does anyone know how to check the head speed with a Skytach??
There must be some kind of a formula to get the correct RPM

you'll have to make one blade a contrasting, hi-vis color

i'm not sure what the sky-tach uses for math so the result will either be correct or half the actual head speed

check with seattle_helo , he's been through this already

I think there was a formula they used. you just used it like normal and divided the head speed by the number of blades.

There is no accurate way to tach 5 blades. You need a onboard tach reading the rotor shaft, as that will tell you for sure.
