My Posts This: Topic Forum | Ok, i said id never get another coaxial or simmilar again after moving into VP big helies but when I saw this mSR at the LHS I had to try one. Liked it so much I bought 2....mainly for spares and more bateries...but it turns out i dont need many spares at all.
After the first 3 days I loged 100 + flights and about 60 crashes. Started to see how to improve it and now it’s a rocket and indestructible. Still an indoor joyride and if you’re an avid 3D master this thing will frustrate you at times but its fun never the less.
First I clipped the blades to stop them braking the blade grips. Old news been done so I just used the info. Then I shortened the links to the swash (dont think you need a metal one and plastic welding rocks), but I did not follow the rest. I use a 10mm for the aileron and 6mm for elevator. Man that became too much for the little servo to handle so I had to find a way around it. Well i cut 4mm from the ends of the flybar paddles on each side, made sure it was balanced and then it took off like a rocket, especialy at full throttle. In fact its so responsive now that the rotor acceleration induces tail spin.
Then I heard about the tail motor being a pain so I fished out some old FP local grocery store helies made of foam, used the primary motor which is the same sise as the tail but slightly more robust and responsive. That fixed the tail out and now its back to a stable platform but way more fun. The lower weight on the paddles makes for a different flight but still rock solid stability.
There are some things that break on it like the landing skids at the point in front where it mounts to the frame but some epoxy sorts that out and enforces the whole thing. A drop of C sorts the screws from not coming loose and some Teflon oil lubes the bearings and ball joints.
What a lot of fun and a robust little devil. To date I have had about 300 flights on the thing and other than things I can fix easily there is nothing damaged. Now if only scorpion made a better motor for this and they made it variable pitch with a HH gyro….lol micro 3D
