Well after building The HH65 Dauphin, I decided to build the old Sikorsky HH52 that we flew before the HH65. Since no one makes one, I took the closest Fuselage (Seaking) and am modifying it to become the HH52. Here is what I started with, and where it is so far.

Your HH-52 looks good. I have been building a 1/8th scale version for the last couple of years. The hardest part was getting information on it to get the shape right.

I have collected photos from all over the web.They helped me correct the 3 view drawing I was given.In the last year, there have been a lot of walkrounds posted. Before then it was hard work to get information. I had to change a few things when I got updated photos which showed where I got things wrong. I have just obtained the HH-52 Flight manual which has cleared up a few areas I was having problems with. If you need anything, let me know and I will post it for you. I scanned the wood parts as I made them, so I have a lot of templates.My navy career was on Wessex and B model Hueys.

Thanks Emile, I tried marking and carving out panel lines today and they came out better than expected. Just a few more days and I should be ready to start the million or so rivets.

update

Well the fuselage is smoothing out nicley plus the cabin sliding door slides open and closed. Panel lines and cowling screws have been added to the engine and gearbox sections. The cockpit dash and center console are almost done but I am still looking for seats to use, any suggestions? A little more forming and sanding...then the rivets!

Rivets!

Well here is the first go around for the nose section. There are a few I will do over but not bad for the first try. It is a lot easier than you think, just takes time. The main body is next and it will probably take a million or so before it is done. No I am not counting although it would be cool to know the total number.

Umm you better check your calculations on that rivet spacing mate! Oh wait, you were an AD right like me? That's right we memorized that, what was that answer on the test 56 or 42? You better make a trip out to the bone yard to go count those rivet patterns, don't want to get second on a technicality!

Huston, We have a problem...

I am showing Girlfriend your heli here on RR. She flies and this is here most favorite heli in the world. We went to the Intrepid Museum some years ago and there is one of these sitting on the deck and, well she fell in love.
