My Posts This: Topic Forum | After switching to a Vibe last summer I came back to the 3D this summer. After yesterday I realized why. I was doing climbing flips and got up to 75 to 100 feet. The heli started acting weird and I seemingly lost elevator control. The heli went in hard on the pipe side from about 30 feet up. When we found it there was a good 1-2" divot from the impact. The blades were completely trashed and the flybar bent 90 degrees in multiple directions. Now for the moral of the story. Frames intact. The only damage was skids, boom, flybar, spindle, main shaft, and main shaft bearings. Less than $100 including blades.
I've had at least 4 very hard crashes since I started flying the 3D several years ago and none have been more than $100. Not only is this one of the best flying 50's out there but damn can it take some abuse.
For those interested I found the cause of the crash. After redoing the servo setup I forgot to reinstall the e-clip on the elevator shaft. Amazingly this was the 3rd flight of the day. |
