Ok, so I don't have a beam but I do run the 500TH in the Trex. I've had this motor for 4 years and it performs extremely well. With good batteries and the proper gearing it flies extremely well. With a 14T pinion, I am able to do everything in the book without it being overpowered. Put on a 15T pinion and some good packs and it's truly an animal (I stay with the 14T pinion). I've never used a scorpion and I am not comparing the 500TH to it, but I just want to say, the 500TH for the price is an excellent motor.

Thanks for your input.

I was wondering if you have ever run yours with an 11 or 13T pinion. Do you foresee amy problems doing this on a 2200 3S cell with a 2200 headspeed?

Yes, I used to run it on a 13T pinion for a while. It performs fine, longer flight times and their is enough power to do everything with some collective management. If you're just flying around and not doing any hard 3D maneuvers, 13T will be just fine. On 11T, I simply hated it. 2200 3s pack is fine, and what I run.

So with the 11T what did you hate about it?

Well for just hovering, it was GREAT, but when you started flying around, although it would never bog, it just didn't have any power to do... well anything. Get into a fast hard bank and you have to recover quickly cause it would just drop out the sky. And loops were a joke. Everything was just in slow motion no matter what you tried to do. Now mind you, the batteries I was using at the time weren't at the level they are now, so I'm sure the performance would be better with good packs, but I can honestly say, I'll never put 11T on it again.

I run mine on 14T and that has plenty of power, if you want to go for flight times then 13T should give you some good flight times.

Thanks for you comments, very helpful. Looks like I'll order a few pinions and go from there.

I'm still unable, however, to make a decision on either the 500SH or the 500TH and haven't been able to find out what would likely be the better performer for me. Maybe this is just a nitpicky waste of time and I should just order one and get on with it...

Anyone had experience with the 500SH?

Based on the jgf site, the TH can handle more amps. It depends on your style of flying. If you need power, go with the TH, if you are just flying around and want long times and not be hard on your batteries, get the SH.

That's the basic feeling I'm getting, not having been able to verify actual results in the field.
