If you want to go faster servos Jr 8717 with a 6 volt system.

Good suggestion on the JR 8717's, They love 8 volts straight in...

If your on a budget and don't mind cross-breeding your Raptor with the Align parts, Use the Align DS-610 or DS-620's..

Either one you choose, this will dramatically increase the speed of the cyclic moves which is directly what you need to get the Tic-Tocs

ACE DS1015 , cant remember 4.8v specs, but at 6v they put out 14.5kg of torque and are .10sec speed.
Metal heat sink cases and full metal gears.
On a Raptor you need high torque servos.
ACE is Thunder Tigers electronics side.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are complaining that the head bogs too much when you do tictocs and the solution is a faster pitch servo which will let you change your collective pitch faster ?

Don't get me wrong, I have a raptor 50 titan with mavrikk metal head 9252s all around. I can do tic tocs all day on %15 nitro(we usually do not run %30 nitro here as its expensive).

If I understood the problem correctly, a faster or higher torque collective servo will not do you any good instead will let you bog your engine even more.

I agree that 9252 is sometimes slow on the collective on a rap 50 but you should be able to do tictocs with that servo no matter what.

Oh sorry, I just read the post again.

You are considering to change your collective servo to 9252.

I vote for align ds610s . Cheap & effective. You can even run them on 8V.

Next option would be ace 1015s. A little more solid than the aligns.

8717s are overkill for a 50 size.

what servos do you have now? You might get the servo performance you are looking for just by bumping the voltage up to a regulated 6V. Having said that I did find tic-toc's and other pitch pump's more preices with a digital-coreless servo on the collective. Along with the JR, Futaba TT and Align take a look at the Hitec servos - 6975 or the new 7940TH

http://servocity.com/html/hs-7940tg_servo.html

I bought some Align 610's recently and have no complaints with them. I also like my 6975's, Futaba 9351's, 9451 and 9252's. All strong, fast accurate servos. I have had my 9252's the longest but I would not buy them today. For about the same money the other servos here are stronger and faster.

Tick tocks are all about timing. Provided your engine is making sufficient power, you should be able to do tick tocks in any orientation with any old servos.

If you can already do good tick tocks on the sim, practice tail down tick tocks with your heli by laying the heli back till inverted without increasing or decreasing the altitude, then push back to upright without changing altitude. Once you can do that, a tick tock is just a matter of shortening the motion. This method works for nose down and aileron tick tocks also.

+ 1 on that you can do tic tocs with 3001 servos on a 30 raptor its all timing they wont be as fast or crisp but will still do it..Its collective cyclic management more than servos speed etc.

Tic Tocs are about timing, you have to get the Pitch, and cyclic just right or you'll load up the head.

I try to get the cyclic at zero when the pitch is at 100.

If you go full pitch and full cyclic at the same time you will bog the engine.

I'll start doing small rainbows when I hear the engine bog to let the head speed build back up. Then, I'll try to tighten them up again. That is what works for me, sometimes.

Good luck.

There is a vid on RR with Justin Chi, the 6 year old, doing tic tocs. He seems to do them a little slower than most, and you can see his inputs in relation to the heli fairly well.

The hitec 635hb should be sufficient to do nice and fast tic-toc on the raptor 50, provided that your timing is right and have enough power. Changing your servos changes the feel of the control and you really do feel that extra speed and precision with good digitals over the 635hb, however, that is not necessarily going to make tic-toc easier for you, as least not for me.

For a start, increase your headspeed to 2050 and make sure you are running enough pitch and cyclic.

#61 on the 700N list and Proud of it.
