Ok, I have heard all the good stuff about this radio however, what is the bad?

Thinking about purchasing one, but don't want to make a mistake. So what are the negatives on this radio?

Thanks!

Negatives? Well for one, it's a full pound and a half lighter than an Airtronics Stylus, which for me was nearly a deal-breaker. I like a hefty tx for pounding bent parts back into shape after a crash. Also, it's $150 less than it's nearest worthy 10 ch competitor -- not good if you like being known as a big spender.

Seriously though -- I haven't heard a single negative comment.

Looks nice.

Hope the speed is up there with the others or better.

One 'big gripe' now is all the different systems of 2.4.

Its about time they all started using a system where you can use RX's from any brand.

Even if they all make their RX's multi system usable.
I think they would sell more than just hopeing that one day their system will be the greatest.

Regards, K

This is keeping me on the fence. Plus, unless I am wrong, there aren't any park flyer receivers (small 4 or 5 channel)?

One can always wish but alas, this will never happen. Regarding the park flyer RX's there is a really tiny 6 channel.

Nope -- never gonna happen. One way tx manufacturers (all of 'em) ensure continued rx sales is by making their data encoding proprietary. Plus, some methods of 2.4 gHz encoding are turning out to be superior to others. Later (newer) methods appear to be more thoroughly tested and more reliable.

Maybe someone will get both an Aurora and an SD10G and test them then everyone can make their own comparisons.

Biggest gripe of mine...

The biggest gripe I have with the new Airtronics SD-10G is the user upgradable software. Anytime there is an improvement to the software, features added, etc. SD-10G owners will simply download the upgrade and flash their transmitters.

The downside to this is simple: I am used to being forced to sell my perfectly good radios at a drastic loss and spend hard earned cash to buy the newest version of the radio I already own. I guess I don't get to buy a new radio every year!! DARN!! My other option is to stop flying for six weeks while I send in my radio to have it updated at the service center ($35 shipping and insurance). The last two times I did this I spent three days reprogramming all the models (20+) I had stored in my transmitter.

Oh, wait, the SD-10G allows me to back up my models on a flash memory card AND/OR on my computer. DARN again!! I don't get to experience the joy of reprogramming 20+ models that were already perfectly programmed. How am I ever going to become intimate with the programming process of my new SD-10G? It takes time to become intimate.

See what I mean, I am forced to save money AND time. I simply am not use to that!! How unfair!

My Bad

I am sorry, but I have another gripe that is more bothersome.

I have been forced to relearn the timing on my manuevers because the SD-10G is so fast. Also, it shows off all of my mistakes. If my fingers move, the model reacts, PERIOD! Sometimes I don't like the radio pointing out all of my mistakes.

I have to learn to be a better pilot to keep my flying appealing.

11x Zero

I would highly question why the 11x zero has a module system. Also, nobody can get Horizon to comment on this radio. Therefore, I doubt it can be considered an option anytime in the near future.

Besides, if it becomes an option history would indicate that it will probably be priced a few hundred dollars higher than the SD-10G.

Another thing about the 11X: the software is about as novel as an old shoe. I'm happy to be corrected here, but I saw little in JR's ads that show the software to be much of anything beyond a 9303. You pretty much get a new transmitter case and an SD card.
