G26 PUH Pro Plus may be available

I have a 26 Pro Plus with less than one gallon through it. It is in a Bergen EB that died due to a failed amp in the roll cyclic servo. I may not repair the Bergen, so the engine could well be available once I decide if I'm going to fix the toy. It all depends upon the cost of repairing the heli, and I waiting to hear from Bergen about the cost of a complete tail rotor.

It was being run on regular gas with six ounces of Mobil 1 Racing 2T fully synthetic oil. That is the same oil that I have always used on my gas airplanes, and it works really well for me.

The 26 is still set on the rich side, but hauled the Bergen Intrepid EB with authority. I'm only a sport flyer, so no hard use in that first gallon of fuel.

The engine suffered no damage in the low altitude crash, but the muffler was damaged and must be replaced.

I'll be making a decision of the G26 (and a NIP pair of NHP 800mm symetrical blades) within the next couple of days. Send a PM to glover1482 if interested.

Fly safe, Glover

six ounces in the first gallon?

Yep! For me, it works a charm for break in.

Breakin oil

Almost everyone on this forum recommends using dino oil instead of synthetic for breakin.
Synthetic is so slippery, rings don't seat.
From what I've read, ratio should be on the heavy side (20:1 to 30:1)vs. what you'll eventually settle into (30+:1)

We've been suggesting to run 6 oz of synthetic oil, like Pennzoil 100% synthetic Outboard Marine Engine oil for over 5 years now.

Yes it DOES take longer to break in, but during the break in process we don't limit you to just hovering around, go fly the heli, setting up your idle ups, curves, etc, and enjoying flying the helicopter.

After 2 gallons of gas run through the engine, then take your oil content down to 5 oz per gallon.

Someone posted here on RR, a video of my Gasser on youtube with the FBL head on it. That heli is running with 5 oz of oil per gallon.

Apparently with a high efficiency cooling fan, you can get away with this...

Is that with the standard Champion plug or do you go hotter?

There is not a lot of difference between hovering and flying if you are not pushing it. Personally I think varying loads is better for break in vs. a constant load.

I broke in my 26 Hanson at 30 to 1 on synthetic for one gallon and 40 to 1 ever since and she runs great on Amsoil Dominator. And the champion plug it came with which works great.
Never heard of 20 to 1 but hey if it works it works!
