Hello all, I just installed phoenix last night. And that was also my first time ever flying a heli. I am flying with the Futaba 10c control. But I'm having a lot of problems keeping the heli stable. I've reset my 10c to all defaults and am running the defaults in the sim. should the heli fly pretty good at those settings? Is this that much harder than I thought? Or do I need to do that much tweeking??

For instance, at zero on all controls and trims, the heli moves left after first leaving the ground. If i give it some trim, it'll still go left, but then start moving right. I dunno. Like I said, first time with a heli. I've tried the tre 450 and 600 being i own both, but have not yet finnished building them.

Thanks for taking a look

For a CW spinning main rotor, a left translation while lifting off the ground is normal. The force of the tail rotor pushing to the right causes this phenomenon. There is no need to trim this out...it's better to learn to counter-act it with stick input each time you lift off.

Try a coaxial model in phoenix if you need something easier to start with.

What you are experiencing is called the translating effect. The thrust our tail rotor creates to counter the main rotor torque is causing the heli to move sideways. A clockwise rotating rotor as viewed from the top will always cause a left drift if left uncorrected.

You need to tilt the heli to the right a slight amount to counter this. Do not try to compensate with trim.

You have to be patient and have perseverance. It will take a few thousand times to get it. No I'm not joking.

Goto View, Displays, Simulation Speed, and turn that down to about 60, and try again This will slow everything down, you can go lower if needed.

Once you get used to the controls, srat cranking it back up.
