I just picked up a DX7, and with the lousy weather we've been having I want to try it on something. I figured I'd bind it to my CX2, which is the later version with a seperate AR6100 RX coupled with a 3 in 1 gyro/esc instead of the all inclusive 4 in 1. Well, I can get the RX to bind if I power it with an external RX battery and bind plug. However, once I remove that switch/battery/bind plug and attempt to power it from the main power pack, it loses the bind completely, with the only indications being a solid light on the AR6100 and an alternating red/green light on the 3 in 1. I've tried re-binding it like 10 times, and this happens every single one. Ail/Ele/Rud channels have been reversed, I tried setting the throttle trim all the way down in both directions to no avail. The radio binds just fine with it's included receiver.

Just a thought.

It may be that your receiver is binding, but the 3 in one is in failsafe for some reason, The receiver may well be working ok.
Try this

Mark up your servo leads so yo know where they go, then remove them from the receiver.
Re bind as you say with a spare battery and follow the bind procedure as laid down with you tx, remember to remove the bind plug when you are done. Then with spare servo plug that into your receiver in a working channel say elevator or aileron and check that you have that working. This proves your receiver is working and you have a bind.
Then power down your receiver and plug in your servo's one by one checking that they work this will eliminate a problem servo. Finally plug in your 3 in 1 and try that out. The 3 in one requires you to set up the throttle in what they call safe mode, therefore you must have the throttle at what it recognises as low throttle, If not it won't initialise and will stay in failsafe. Try reversing your throttle and lowering the trim to a low trim value.

After a successful re bind try placing your dx7 a bit further away from your heli than you are at present. mine sometimes won't initialise when you are next to the heli?

Also I don't use heli mode on my dx7 i just use the aero mode as it doesn't require mixing etc.

Good luck

Okay,I have verified it is holding the bind. I disconnected the power pack, and plugged a 4.8v rx pack into the battery channel of the ar6100. Well, it kept the bind, but something really wierd happened. The 3 in 1 actually "greened up," and armed, allowing both servos to operate, and the rotors/escs to work, albeit on 4.8 volts. Needless to say it didn't go anywhere. I thought that was impossible- there should be no way the RX could backfeed power to the 3 in 1, nor should the ESCs have worked. But they did, and no, it still won't work on 7.4v plugged in the correct way. Odd, guess I'll just have to keep using the stock tx.

Well for the sake of the archives,

Found the problem- bad battery! Had a pack going bad and didn't realize it. Put in the good one, everything linked up with no problem and the DX7 works with this heli just great!
