You are going to have carpal tunnel thumb from squeezing on the syringe. I thought they would make a rivet tape or something like that.

rcmadness
they do sell a rivet tape. I think the name of the company is
RC scale products or RC scale skins.
Hirobo also sells a sheet of rivets in two sizes and should cover two helis. they stick on and some that have used it say they stay on well and once painted over are not going anywhere.
And they don't shrink

I bought two sheets to do my Huey and my Long Ranger.

i'll have to check that out. here's another one i was looking at
http://www.scaleaero.com/flitemetal_rosie_riveter.htm
i may try a product like these. i'm tired of redoing ones that i'm not happy with. it's really not that hard and i may just finish like i'm going but next time i'll probably go with one of these products for sure. I played around with some decals. i couldn't find a red one like on the heli so i used paint program to color the blue red. i won't be using the blue circle and it'll be shrunk to scale and printed on sticker paper. then i'll clear over it. i think it came out nice. especially when i shrink it down.

Hey papa sal, yep i'll be copying the air evac lifeteam heli as exact as possible. it's coming together slowly but you're right, i got it for a winter project. the mechanics are flying nice.

yep i have JestRR making the skids and i'm working on the frame to mount the mechanics into the fuselage right now. i'll put pics up tomorrow if i get it finished. i'm also remodelling a closet in the meantime so to fake the wifey out i'll go out to the shop for a half hour to make one cut for the closet. she's gonna wonder how the heli magically got built during all this.

Make sure someone lets me know where to send flowers to your funeral when she finds out.My wife always knows when I am up to something with a heli,

I can almost read the headlines now in the Daily Ardmorite. "Local man beat to death with a helicopter, woman was mumbling something about rivets and they took her away".

LOL good luck

that's good stuff madness. the truth is always funnier than what we make up. i put a new floor in our master bedroom closet and i'm going to put a new closet organizer system in tomorrow. so i've bought myself some heli time i think. i've learned to take care of the honeydo's and then i don't get much flack about the helis. i've almost got my woodbase to mount the mechanics built but i'm waiting on skid measurements before i fix it all together permanently. i'm mounting the skids and the mechanics to the base but seperately so i can take the mechanics out and the skids will still be fixed to the fuselage. it's amazing what i can get done if i can just find the time to get out to the shop. i'd be finished if i just had a few straight days in the shop. hmmm, sounds like vacation time, oh yeah i just started a new job. i don't have any vacation time.

I am with krashtagain on this one RN, it ain't gonna start for sure now.

If the skids get wet it will cause moisture under the distributor cap!!!!!

OK men, i feel like i'm talking to myself sometimes. it amazes me how you scale guys build these things so fast. seems like it takes me forever to get things done. starting this thread has made me keep busy on the heli. my clipboard is full so i'll explain all that's going on. the first 2 pics are the mount for the mechanics. i'll wait until i get measurements from JestRR on the skids for the bottom crossbraces but the angles look good on the top. i'll mount the skids so that they'll stay with the fuselage when i take the mechanics out to work on them. the 3rd pic is a mock up of some seats. i'm going to make them from stuff i have laying around. keep in mind this is nowhere good enough to put in the heli but it's a start. my plan is to form a head rest on what you see in the pic and cross stitching in the middle to add some detail. lots of work to do but it's a start. i finished my closet remodel and the 4th pic is what's left over. heli racks. the last pic is the final touch up on the gas caps. i'm thinking about how to make one of the caps the actual fill cap to fuel the heli through. i'll be starting on an instrument panel soon and that's one thing i've been looking forward to so stay tuned.

the only part of the head that's still metal is the head block. i softened up the dampeners and i'm running a slower headspeed and the heli is flying great. i'm going to weigh the fuselage once i mount the wood mounting frame and i'll try and evenly add that amount of deadweight to the heli before mounting it to see if i have the power i need. i've also been running 30% and i'm going to re tune the engine to run cheaper fuel. no since in burning all my good stuff.

my favorite scaler. I left behind an Xcel Long Ranger when I moved a year ago. All set up, ready for rivets and paint. Still bums me out.
PS - isnt that the same basic paint scheme as the Ranger in Airwolf???
The Santini Air Long Ranger?? If not, it's awful close.
