Last year, I swore up and down I'd never buy one of these helis. Just goes to show how much spine I have.

So, who's got them in stock?

Going to put a Insane Canopy on it? Sorry couldn't resist! LOL

You know in the air a Aurora looks just like a Align Trex. Why spend the extra money on the Aurora? Just following your logic...

Very helpful post.

And no, you're not following my logic. You missed it completely.

Big difference between the Aurora and TRex 700. From what I hear, there may be some quality issues with the TRex. I don't think anyone has complained about quality with the Aurora. Spending a couple hundred dollars extra for a heli that very well have better quality parts is highly worth it.

The canopy you put on a helicopter, on the other hand, is just to make the heli look somewhat nice from a distance of somewhere between three feet to three-hundred feet. If one canopy has a the Simpsons painted on it, and another has The Last Supper painted on it, they'd both look equally good, and spending $100 more on the latter would be an exercise in throwing money down the toilet. The difference between InsaneCanopy and Fusuno isn't even remotely that big.

That aside, do you know who has the Aurora in stock?

Drop to my level?

I made a new thread about a canopy painting company that is ripping people off. You could have ignored it, you know!

Anyways, if you wouldn't mind, could you list for me a few online retailers other than Heliproz who normally carry the Aurora?

Every heli has "quality" issues, just do a search and you will find many for the Aurora aswell.

Please define "ripping off". I thought people were paying for Insane's canopies of their own free will, am I missing something here?

You are mistaking "ripping off" for "stealing".

Stealing is deliberately misleading the buyer into paying for something that they are not getting.

Ripping off, on the other hand, is taking advantage of buyers' ignorance. People who pay $220 for a canopy are ignorant. Yeah, InsaneCanopy can charge what they want for their canopies, but they are unequivocally ripping people off.

I see. So what if someone did their research and decided that they would rather pay more for the Insane Canopy? Are they then still ignorant?

Isn't any one item worth what someone is willing to pay for it?

Do you also belive Dave Yost was ripping people off while he was in business?

Yeah yeah, I'm familiar with that concept of something being worth "whatever people are willing to pay for it". After all, I am but one of the millions of sheep who bought their wives diamond engagement rings when getting engaged. Of course, on the other hand, a diamond engagement ring has some tradition behind it that makes it a de facto necessity.

In stark contrast, paying $220 for a painted canopy when you can purchase one that is almost as good for $75 to $120 is just plain dumb, with or without doing "research" beforehand.

Besides, what kind of "research" did you have in mind?

If someone could prove that InsaneCanopies canopies were more durable (instead of doling out that horsesh|t about "clear coat quality", or that they were lighter, or that they...I don't know...prevented engine overheating, then yeah, that kind of research would transform the sucker being ripped-off into the educated buyer making a wise decision. I have yet to hear of any such benefits from purchasing an InsaneCanopy.

The sole reason I hear is that they have nicer paint jobs. Yeah, they do--they're a little nicer. But try to remember that it's a slightly nicer paint job that's going onto a toy helicopter, not a Harley Davidson.

And this makes a canopy for Joe's prize heli any less important how?

Please explain, very clearly, why it is dumb, and back your sentiment up with facts, rather than "it's my opinion". Because if you don't, then it's nothing more than YOUR opinion, and you know what everyone says about those. You're stating it as fact, and it's evident you believe it, as you went so far as to create a "boycott" thread.

Well, what if someone eyeballs both canopies and decides that while even if the more expensive canopy is slightly better in the quality department, that it's worth double the price? Are they then still an idiot?

I'm sure, since you seem so obsessed with this topic, that it would benefit you to purchase one of each, and run both through some objective testing to confirm your assertions. Afterall, you'd gain credibility and something to actually base your "boycott" on, wouldn't you?

Did you ever think that maybe Joe's heli is as valuable to him as John's Harley is to him? Are you saying that it's dumb to spend $200 on a nicely painted lid for your heli, but it's perfectly ok to spend 2K on a custom painted tank and fenders for your Softail?

Let me repeat my other question, which you failed to answer. Do you think Dave Yost was ripping people off when he was in business?

Fiveboy, everything we're talking about is an opinion, except for my statement that an InsaneCanopy canopy doesn't look much different from a Fusuno or Canomod canopy, and that they cost substantially more for what amounts to little material difference. (When I say material difference, I am referring to physical differences, and not perceived differences).

As for Mr. Yost, all I know is that he painted canopies. I don't know more than that, so I can't say whether or not he was ripping people off.

As for my calling something "dumb", that too, is an opinion. But lets face it, if canopy X and canopy Y are physically very similar, but Canopy X costs significantly more than Canopy Y, it's pretty-much dumb to buy Canopy X.

But let us say that Joe Blow, for whatever reason, thinks Canopy X is that much nicer looking than Canopy Y. The fact that he thinks a toy helicopter deserves an additional $120 for a paint job is doubly "dumb".

Pardon me, Darkspire,
But did this thread come and bite you in the rump while you were surfing the web, minding your own business?
If not, then simply exit this thread and ignore it and I promise you that it'll never bother you.
Unbelievable. It's like we're in grade-school here.
