Hi guys!

I recently received an original Century Hawk 30 in a trade I was going to use for a "beater heli". So I naturally disassembled it to check for wear and tear. Later as I was putting it all back together, I noticed the seesaw is one sided with only one tie bar. I hadn't paid that much attention while taking it all apart since I have previously assembled a Hawk Sport and a Hawk Pro and figured this one should be similar since " a Hawk is a Hawk."

Anyway the confusion comes into play when hooking the links from the swash to the bell mixing arms. Do I put the swash links to the short or the long balls on the bell mixing arms? If I do then the long and short balls point in opposite directions in relation to their attached blade grips since the seesaw links are both on the same side due to a single tie bar. Or do I put one swash link to a short ball and one swash link to a long ball so the long and short balls both point the same direction in relation to their attached blade grips?

I downloaded the Hawk III manual and it was no help since it uses a double tie bar seesaw like the Hawk Sport and Pro. I can take pics later if this is all confusing. I am hoping someone familiar with the old original Hawk 30 understands what I am asking.

Thanks,
Rob

Wow. that Hawk is about 15 years old!!!

As you can see, your statement "a Hawk is a Hawk" is about like looking at a 1994 Honda Civic to a 2009 version!! Like two different cars.

You can look here for a chronological history with the chnages.

http://www.leisuretech.ca/index.php...e_century_hawk/

As you will see, other then the name, there is not very many parts that are in common with the two.

I'll see if I can dig up one of the original manuals. Heck, you may still be able to get one from Century.

Thanks oldfart - I didn't expect things to be identical, like I knew about the main shaft and feather shaft size changes and the plastic swash plate and such. But the basic control geometry I didn't figure would change much. At least at a glance it looked very similar to the Hawks I was familiar with, until I went to put the head back together - LOL!

I did search ALOT here on RunRyder and around the net for information and manuals without much luck. I found another post where a Century Rep stated the manuals prior to the Hawk III were not available. And of course the Hawk III was when they started using the symmetrical seesaw - so that downloaded manual did not help me at all.

I had already found that link on the evolution of the Hawk, of course after I already had the thing apart. It is quite interesting to see the evolution from version to version.

The swash link goes onto the long ball if you want to dampen the cyclic, and vice-versus if you want the cyclic to be hot.

Stock, out of the box the long link goes to the swash.

If it doesn't fly sell it!
