My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hey all,
I've gotten a very rich gallon of straight methanol/12% oil thorough the new OS 91 FX-HGL. I've grown bored of hovering and slow circles. So, this past weekend i created my idleup curves and started loading up the head a little.
however, having never run this motor (or 0% nitro for that matter) i have some questions.
during the first 6 breakin tanks i was nearly 3 1/2 turns out on the high-speed needle. it was '4-stroking' very nicely and hovering at 1600RPM. as i'm starting to lean out (i'm at 3-turns now) i obviously am gaining some engine RPMs.
the manual states that hover should be about 1500-1600 which is where i'm at, and 3D should not exceed 1850, which is right about where my idle curves have me.
however across the entire throttle curves i'm consistently less than 50% throttle. and, as i lean out toward 2-2.5 turns on the high-speed needle i expect to have to drop the curves further.
is it normal to run this motor at such a low RPM? it seems that i'm way out of the motor's powerband. or am i missing something obvious?
thanks.
