Hi Guys,

i have a 30V2 rappy with the TT39 engine. The engine was perfectly tuned with coolpower 15% fuel and OS A3 plug, with head temperatures 85-95 celcius and default muffler until i removed it because after every 5-6 flights was untied continuously. I put on a Thuder Tiger 30 Deluxe muffler (PV0102) to resolve the previous problem, but i have a bigger one. I can't tune anymore the engine. With the needles set as before the engine is very rich at idle and getting lean at high rpm's. I tried to rich the main needle to 4-5 turns but nothing has changed. I tried to lean the idle needle and same thing happened. I changed glow plug, I inspected everything for air leaks with no luck to find something. Carburator was shine with no dust or dirt. The main tank clunk line is in very good condition (new one 5-10 flights before remove the stock muffler). I bypassed the header tank and i had same symptoms. Now i have also higher engine temperatures, 105-115 Celcius. Any suggestions?

Thank you jschenck. I 'll try it, but I don't understand why the low needle worked just fine without problems until now...

pure guess but perhaps the restrictive stock muffler was preventing the engine from breathing properly so the tune changed when you got a less restrictive muffler. Now the needles won't let it adjust to the better muffler.

Hi all,

finally I made the low end needle modifacation and did not exist any change. At some strange way the problem was solved via changing again the clunk line. Possibly it was owed of material failure or something.

Is there any restriction of the muffler's pressure tap? If you use locktite when installing the tap some can get inside and block the airflow.

Hi nocontrol1,
No, there isn't any restriction of the muffler's airflow..
