Guys, it appears that John Beech has been once again locked out of this forum. I dont have any insight into how long we will be free to non-commercially discuss the Pantera but at least for now we are.
I want to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone here for my participation in some of the recent unproductive threads. I felt I could not let the untruths go unchallenged. Anyway, I want to pledge my support to help the newbie Pantera owners anyway I can. I hope the other experienced Pantera enthusiasts will do the same. I only ask them to be honest and forthright in their posts, whether it shows the Pantera in a good light or not. I feel we have a responsibility to our fellow modelers more than we do to the reputation of a particular helicopter. The Pantera is a nice flying heli and is a good value for what it is. Lets accept its limitations and praise it's virtues.

John's input on this forum had a lot to do with my purchase of a Pantera. I haven't agreed with everything he's ever said, but he makes it obvious that he cares about his customer's success, and enjoyment with his product. I hope whatever is keeping him away will change.

John is very quick to want to defend his product. His intentions are good, but sometimes he overdoes it, and it gets him into trouble. He is also no longer a paid RR advertiser, and there are some keeping an eagle-eye on him in case he makes unfair upaid advertisement. I am still scratching my head as to why his last post got pinked, but I don't know. I couldn't see anything out of line with it. He HAS said some things that didn't surprise me getting pinked, but that one surprises me. I've gotten pinked for next to nothing.

Bottom line is this. The Pantera is a good, inexpensive model with good support. Looks like that aint gonna change. There is also good support here on this forum, despite all the nay-sayers and negativity.

How can I soar with the Eagles when I work with turkeys??

And sometimes the intentions of contributors is misconstrued. I have myself come under attack when I was trying to relate some of my honest experiences, and observations with the Pantera. When an Audacity customer goes to the trouble to document their experiences, good, or bad, THAT is the whole intent of the forums here.

Personally I think the Pantera is a solid ship with decent flight characteristics. As everyone is quick to point out, no model heli is perfect. We don't need a six paragraph lecture extolling the virtues of brand x, and an examination of the competing products every time someone asks a question about this machine.

The simple fact is that helicopters are complex machines, there are MANY things that can, and do go wrong. Sometimes the problems are user related, electronics related, material defect (like bad blades), sometimes a bad part slips through and ends up in a kit, the possibilities are seemingly endless.

As such, experience is the best teacher, and close attention to detail during the build process is the best way to increase the odds in your favor. Discussing the positive experiences, as well as the bad, helps others to hopefully avoid making errors. To try and derail, or deny that a problem exists, defeats the entire purpose for which this forum exists.

Do you guys think due to the economy and the fact that someone won't pay for basic entry-level RR advertising that a finiancially strapped situation might exist, is the company on shaky ground?
The other reason I say this is because at IRCHA, the most prominent event on the planet, there was no factory representation.

Look at the bright side, a forum without 'one-man-band' BS commercials is not such a bad thing. It could promote a different enviroment.

Anyway sorry you guys lost 'fearless leader' and enjoy your Panteras.

There's a Pantera ad on the front page, that says to me that JB is still a paid advertiser here on RR.

I think there are different levels of subscribership.. I remember JB saying something about having to reduce his level due to the economic times a while back. Something about "what was in if for him vs already established business" if I recall. Also, just because JB reduces his level as a RR advertiser has no effect on what other RR advertisers post, so you may still see an Audacity ad here or there.

Before JB downsized, there was an Audacity advertisement at the top of the Audacity forum. Remember?

It's okay, there are better forums JB can be reached at. We don't always have to slum it here.

Billibob,

John's not financially strapped by any criteria. Maybe on paper Genesis Hobby might be cash strapped but John personally is not which is why I grind my teeth when he comes on here pleading poverty. I like the paragraph Petmotel wrote:

We all fly the Pantera, some more than others and we are all here to help. People have to accept the negative comments with the good.

interesting topic

the P50 is my first and only heli at the moment so it is all i know. during my learning, it has been pretty durable for what i think that is. its easy to work on and when i have had problems, there have never been "mystery issues" or problems that i could not identify with something i have done wrong or missed (knock on wood). so i'm very happy with it, i love my P50! this great machine has not scared me from this intimidating hobby which to me is an indication that JB has done his job.

with that being said, i have watched what i said on the forums here and on H-Freak so as to not offend 3 or 4, what i see as insecure folk on here. some of you guys are like pit-bulls when the comments about an issue with the P50 is even close to being negative.

instead of attacking, highlight the remedy or come up with an alternative.

and despite the fact i love my P50 and will not get another brand of 50, i still have my gripes about some minor things...but i choose not to vet it here cause some of you guys are harsh sometimes.

We get our forum back? I Talk to JB all the time with new Ideas and product feedback. We all know that the ship is solid and as with any product we can find flaws.
Let's get back to the basics folks. We are here to help new and old pilots enjoy the rush of learning to fly and the long hard path to expert class.
We should not spend our time POO POOing (sorry pet) the ship, but help others in the building and flying of the Pantera. "It is what it is". Is that not what we want to do here? We all agree that if you want to call JB. He is ready to take your call. With that said, JB has much to offer and should keep them to his own webpage. Sorry John but this is a forum of helping New and old Pantera pilots, and not your soap box. I would hope that if your allowed back you temper your typing in Helping the fellow, as we continue to do in this forum.
My two cents.

My name is Billm. Cough, and I'm a Heli Holic

I will admit a good bit of JBs answers were long, and he does get a bit protective about his product, BUT this is a small company, and he has his whole life savings invested in it. If you had all your money invested into something then someone would start to bad mouth you what would you do?

JB will make things right with anyone. He usually wants the old parts to take a look at and he will swap you out or send you a refund if you were not happy. I would imagine that he is trying different people to make some of his parts and that is why is parts are not 100% identical.

I would love to hear of another hele. manufacturer that calls his custs. out of the blue to see how their projects are going. JB has called me more that a few times after I have posted a pic on something that I was trying and gave me his opinion on it. Sometimes it was a good thing, and other times I would disagree. I have owned Century birds since 1995 I think (when ever the Hawk came out) and I have never received a call or letter from them when I have reported a problem with their product. I have had every version of the Hawk that has been made, even the first one that liked to chew up the tail slider so you would loose complete tail control. I mailed them 2 times to ask if anyone else had a problem and I never got a call or letter back.

The only other company that has called me out of the blue is Perfect Regulators because I asked him a question and after he answered it I still had no idea about what he was trying to say.

Are his products perfect? No

Are his BBC direct drop in? No, and he will tell you this before you order it.

I agree he does need to take look at his QC's a bit more to get things more uniform.

But all in all, I think JB has a great company and runs it well, he just needs to tone it down some in the forums.

And for you people who do not own or have ever owned a Pantera, get a life. If you do not like our bird go some place else, you have no right to complain about something that you do not even own. Marty your comments are always welcome in my opinion since you have owned multiple Panteras, for the rest of you that have never owned a Pantera, Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya.

Hillbilly, Stop with the "whole life savings shtick". It's BS. John does very well outside of the tiny little R/C company so lets get past that part. If Genesis Hobby/Audacity Models went away tomorrow it would only scratch his ego, hardly his finances. Lets allow that John is very passionate towards his product. Let's support those that choose to try the Pantera.
If John can leave us be in this forum, once we get off this thread and back into discussing the Pantera, John AND Pantera owners will have the best of both worlds. They will have John only a phone call away so he will have direct one on one contact with his customers who need help, and they will have this forum for end users unbiased, direct opinions and answers to their questions. Let's get started.

I'll go close the thread.
